Thanks a lot! It looks great...with the default theme. Unfortunately not so great with other themes, oh well. I like this layout a lot better, I hope some of these changes make it officially into Firefox.

Very nice indeed. Do you plan on rewriting this as an extension at some point? Drop-in file replacement is going to cause trouble sooner or later...

Yeah, drop in placement is annoying. I haven't thought much about writing an extension, but if people's response remains positive I'll look into it.

Glad you all like it.

Ooooh, don't suppose I could make a little request?
If not, no worries, now that I have the idea I might spend 6 months thinking about it then actually do it myself.
If you're willing...

Starting with the current firefox DM...
File name in bold.
Use your icons and move pause to beside the cancel button(your icon again) I don't want it to interfere with the status line though like in yours though.
% completed just under the file type icon. Ie under the jigsaw piece. In bold.
Download, open folder and a close button, with options and cleanup removed. (Still at the bottom)
The download and open folder icons like you have them in canceled/finished downloads.
Thickness of the entries reduced a bit.

Or give instructions how I can effect these changes hehe.

Good work!

/me gets down on hands and knees and begs.:D

Excellent, andman42, if we have to live without sidebar support your tweaks are a positive improvement over the default DM. Thanks so much for sharing that with us! :)

Looks real nice, Although I don't think we need the text "Status:" It just seems to waste space that could be used to actually complete the status line in a short download manager window. (EDIT: As said above, I do believe this space would be better used for a % download sign, perhaps in bold.)

Other than that, it looks real good, I especially like your use of the icons :)

That's a good point. I took your suggestion and removed the "Status:" text during downloads when the download progress is being displayed. The progress line now fits more comfortably in the window.

I just uploaded a modified version at http://fire.prohosting.com/andman42/downloadmgr.html

Thanks for your suggestion.

I think it should be made the official download manager. Hopefully the developers see this thread!
