Hello - and firstly thank you for this great extension.

I have a minor irritant to report: the extension has CTRL+num keybinding preference, but if the keybinding is enabled, the ALT+num keybindings (used to switch tabs under Linux these days) is disabled.

It is a minor problem, but for one never using Windows, this is a very counter-intuitive problem. Also, since these days ALT+9 brings you to the last tab, the keybingins are much more used. Don't you think having the ability of both tab-swittching and speed-dialling at the same time would be great?

Sugested solutions:
- do not disable tab-switching when it is not bound to the same prefix
- enable the option to select prefixes for speed dial (ctrl, alt, shift, crtl+shift etc.)
- have a nice vacation - i think you deserved it!

Hi kvorg,

I'm glad to inform you that in the new release (which should be out really soon) I added the ability to configure the following shortucts:

• Ctrl+number
• Ctrl+Shift+number
• Alt+number
• Alt+Shift+number
• Ctrl+Alt+Shift+number

The actions assigned for every shortcut can be configure in a new "Controls" tab in the Speed Dial options panel. One of the available options is to directly select a tab.

I'm currently waiting for the translations to be updated, but I hope to make the new release before Firefox 3 beta 1 is released. The new version has some nice improvements on it, which I'll detail once I release it

Please help me figure out how to add the ICON or display for speeddial. When I click on the drop down, I have Set as Speed Dial, 1-9 etc but I dont see where my handy little icon is or how to add it.

You mean the icon to open Speed Dial? Right click on the toolbar, choose "Customize...", locate the "Speed Dial" button, drag it to the toolbar, and you're set!

If that's not what you meant, could you give more details about what you want?

I just uploaded version 0.5 to AMO. It's on the sandbox, so for the time being, it can be downloaded from my mirror page.

I'm quite proud of this release, and I would appreciate any feedback on it

I know I promised a sidebar with the Speed Dials, but I couldn't include it on this version In any case I'll do my best to add it on the next release.

This version adds some nice features, like the ability to enter a thumbnail number in the URL bar to jump to it's assigned website, or the ability to configure keyboard shortcuts and mouse clicks. Also, the performance is quite higher, and the memory usage quite lower.

Great add-on! There is only one thing I'm missing:
In the Opera Speed-Dial, the speed-dial itself does not fill the entire screen. The 9 thumbnails are in the center of the screen with a lot of air around.
In the Firefox version the thumbnails are crammed together to fill the view-window. Is there any way of changing this behaviour to the one used in Opera?
I think it would make for a much cleaner and appealing add-on =)

Yes, there is! In this version I introduced some configuration parameters to modify that. However, as I already sent it for localization, I couldn't add a settings panel for it. It will certainly be there in the next release. Indeed, it already auto-configures by itself: if you own a "panoramic" screen (16:10 instead of 4:3), it will set the width of the thumbnail area to 80%.

The parameters to control this are:
extensions.speeddial.heightModifer
extensions.speeddial.heightModiferType
extensions.speeddial.maximumHeight
extensions.speeddial.minimumHeight
extensions.speeddial.widthModifer
extensions.speeddial.widthModiferType
extensions.speeddial.maximumWidth
extensions.speeddial.minimumWidth

Basically, the "modifier" indicated the "target" size. "modifierType" represents the type, so if it's "0", "modifier" represents a percentage of the size, and if it's "1", it's an absolute value of pixels to subtract from the total available size.

The "maximum" size is the maximum size in pixels of the thumbnail area, and "minimum" is the minimum size. In these values, "-1" indicates no limit.

Confused? It will look a lot easier once I put it on a dialog

Here you've some examples:
extensions.speeddial.widthModifer = 80
extensions.speeddial.widthModiferType = 0 (when this value is 0, indicates that widthModifier is a percentage)
extensions.speeddial.maximumWidth = 1200
extensions.speeddial.minimumWidth = -1

With these values, the "thumbnail area" will try to occupy 80% of the available width, up to 1200.

extensions.speeddial.widthModifer = 200
extensions.speeddial.widthModiferType = 1 (when this value is 1, indicates that widthModifier is an modifier in pixels)
extensions.speeddial.maximumWidth = -1
extensions.speeddial.minimumWidth = 800

With these, the thumbnail area will have a minimum width of 800 pixels, but will occupy the maximum available with with a margin of 100 pixels at each side (the 200 pixels of widthModifier are applied evenly to each side).

To modify these values, you should use "about:config". As I said, next version will have a proper configuration panel Sorry for the inconvenience.

As a workaround I set all my dials to "never" refresh. If you could figure out what is wrong it would make your extension really perfect. Here are my installed extentions:

Thanks a lot for the list The more extension lists I've, the easier it will be for me to reproduce the problem. IMHO, it looks like a conflict between 2-3 extensions.

I´ve updated to Version 0.5 today and i´ve found a big Problem.
Everytime i type a address into the URL-Bar and press Enter, thre is nothing happens.

Hi,

you're not the first person that writes me about this conflict but you're the first one that send me the extension list, so I'll try to locate and solve the problem as soon as possible.

For now, you might open "about:config" and change the "extensions.speeddial.urlBarShortcuts" property to "false". After that, all new windows will work as expected.

I'm pretty sure I'll be able to locate and fix the problem today.

Today I've installed Speed Dial and it seems to be a very usefull plugin.
But I've have Speed Dial activated I can't use the addressbar (can type a url and press enter but nothing happens).

IIRC the Problem was also here with the Update 0.4 and IIRC to solve the Problem by myself, i´ve disabled the Flagfox-extension. (after the next update of this extension everything works fine.)
Is it possible, that in this case also flagfox is the offending?

I just solved the problem and prepared a new version, which I hope will be approved swiftly in AMO.

For the time being, I uploaded it to the extension's website.

I apologize for the inconvenience... As I didn't have IE Tab installed, I couldn't detect the conflict.
