Well, yes and no: Yes, the 'awesome bar' has now more suggestion entries when typing in something and each suggestion line is as wide as the whole FF window but no, its implementation into (not updated) NNL creates a bug as each suggestion entry has approx. 8-10x the height than normally (1x).

I tested several other themes including standard theme and: Only NNL misbehaved.

I'll live with it. Doesn't bother me enough to remove NNL

Tested the theme on FF Nightly v51 and the top right drop down to bring up Options etc. is completely broken. It still does work however and makes everything dark.

Too bad McDavis doesn't seem to come back and update it. Many people have tried reaching out to him and no answer.

Would be great if you can post it here :P
Ok, not the best of screenshots - kinda missed to show extracting nasa_night_launch-0.6.20160329-fx.zip and opening that folder; needs to be done, as install.rdf can't be renamed to .txt otherwise - so it can be opened in Notepad - OR edited with a 3rd party tool, without changing the extension (if you're using something like Notepad++ for example).

Code: Select all

Once you change <em:maxVersion>50.*</em:maxVersion> to whatever number, just higher than what (Firefox version) you have installed, save and rename it back to install.rdf, ZIP-up the folder, change the file extension back to .xpi and it can be installed.

Same goes for the BETA,

Code: Select all

http://mcdavis.dreamhosters.com/nnlopenbeta/nightlaunchnext_0.1.20160314.beta.bundle.xpi
... If you're getting it directly from his web site (and not AMO). :)

Hope it helps!.. Been up all night, tried to write it all out as best as I could ATM. =)

Edit: Oh, right ^^ teh BETA seems to be different:
As of 2011-08-28, we're now packaging with add-on Night Launch Companion. This is an experimental Firefox add-on for customizing the NASA Night Launch theme. This add-on enables advanced styling and optional enhancements not possible with theme technology alone. It doesn't do a lot, but what it does is important. Introduction here.
P.S. Not sure how much point there's to all of this - as it'll be b0rked in many ways, as ppl have posted already, heh.
pls disregard my (previous) disillusioned ff => 4.x posts, tnx. I've embraced it; apologies.

err, you know how to enable showing the file extensions in (File) Explorer Options... Windows Explorer, not Internet Exploder. :)

Code: Select all

Better yet, ppl complaining this theme isn't working could devote an hour or few to try and find out offending bits of code and possibly fix it while mcdavis is MIA. CSS isn't that hard to learn and web is full of help :) Also, DOM Inspector is rather easy to use.

Version 49 is the last version this Theme works with. Do not try to use it with version 50, the "Open Menu" on the top right becomes completely non functional. I don't know what they changed in version 50 to do this.

He's active on twitter. He abandoned the project without saying why. I'm afraid he's permanent MIA.

I really really wish he'd come back though. I'm clueless as to how to modify it to work with any version higher than 49. I can modify the installer to allow it to be used with 49 and it works, but on 50 the Open Menu breaks and I don' t know how to fix that.

Withouth NNL FF becomes ugly and the settings screen is a blinding white nightmare. I can't stand to use FF w/o NNL. This really sucks.

I added to stylish

Code: Select all

.panel-subviews{
    display: none  !important;
}
and it's ugly but works.

Awesome fix! It works :) As long as functionality is there I don't care if it's ugly, I just need the darkness for my eye strain :mrgreen:

Thank you!

Maybe and only maybe mcdavis will come back after the U.S. president´s election. He seems to be a very politically active and involved person and might find time and will after the event to resume his NNL project.
Keep your fingers crossed...
