Great, thank you. Now I just need to get rid of that negative vibes issue. I did notice that Yahoo is being a bit silly with their webmail logins lately o.O.

Hi Comodo Dragon,

Code: Select all

HttpComms3.js: callback : Exception : NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE.
Error message: Component returned failure code: 0x80040111 (NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE) [nsIHttpChannel.responseStatus]
697

is what seems to be the problem. I also found this:

Code: Select all

Fehler: toolbarButton has no properties
Quelldatei: chrome://optionsmenu/content/OptionsMenu.js
Zeile: 38

Suppose thats unrelated though.

Thanks!

Try increasing the connection timeout value (tools -> options -> advanced -> Disc and Network)

Hey Comodo: First off, thank you very much for the webmail addons. It made it possible for me to finally find a reason to switch to Thunderbird.

Now for a request: Would it be possible to reduce the Webmail extension's priority (or somehow make it much more efficient) when checking mail?

I'm using a P3 933 MHz, and the extension practically pins my CPU, for the duration of checking my three webmail accounts, every time. I have each account configured to check mail every 10 minutes. This is especially troublesome if I'm watching a video, because I get regular pauses and sever stuttering, while mail is being checked.

To make sure this was in fact a problem with the Webmail extension and not an inherent Thunderbird problem, I compared the the CPU utilization of checking my Gmail account (using secure POP3) with my Yahoo and two Hotmail accounts (using the Webmail extension). Here are my CPU utilization findings:

Gmail (Thunderbird's built-in SSL POP3): up to 9 %
Yahoo (Webmail extension - beta mode): up to 65 % (typically 23 %)
Hotmail accounts (Webmail extension): up to 93 % (typically 85 %)

Apparently the Hotmail extension is the most inefficient. I have two hotmail accounts, and since it takes several seconds to check mail, that's a bit much. Thunderbird itself has negligible impact.

Here are my version numbers:
- Thunderbird 2.0.0.16
- Webmail 1.3.3b3
- Webmail - Hotmail 1.2.19b3
- Webmail - Yahoo 1.4.0b13

I am running this on XP SP3 with 512 MB.

Thanks

The extensions are written using JavaScript, JavaScript doesn't give you that level of control.

Then what about efficiency? At least the yahoo extension is performing significantly better than the hotmail extension. Is there something that can be done there?
