Re: [ext] FlashGot 1.0 - Lord of the Links
Hello and excuse me for disturbing You once again,
Thanks for the information because I didn't think to change the quality in the video menu and I didn't know that "FlashGot Media" catchs streams as they are playing.
So, when I tried this, "FM" ("FlashGot Media") found two new links (one for Standard Quality, the other for High Quality), but files can't be played.
More important, both URLs start with same address as KeepVid links, so, don't You think that "FM" should be able to download same files... ?
from Dailymotion (through FlashGot Media):
(High Quality)
(video.flv - Low Quality)
Sorry to ask this question twice, but do You know the answer ?
Many thanks for all!
See You...

Sorry to ask this question twice, but do You know the answer ?
Is there any difference between to use "like-Anony" websites and the "Use always this Referrer URL" option ?
Do both methods only change the referrer (the first to anony.110mb.com or others, and the second to the URL set in the option menu) or is one better than the other ?
Many thanks for all!
See You...

Re: [ext] FlashGot 1.0 - Lord of the Links
Can someone point me to an explanation of how to use flashgot media?
Is there a flashgot user manual somewhere?
I'm often stuck on a very old machine too slow to play modern streams, but fast enough to download them to view later on a faster machine, etc.
I am using flashgot 1.0.5 on two systems:
Firefox 3.0.1 on kubuntu hardy
Firefox 2.0.0.16 on Mandrake 9.1
I am currently using Aria as my download manager on both systems, but I'm open to suggestions on that. It's pretty old and not under development AFAIK.
Thanks.
Joe

@Giorgio: Any further thoughts on flashgot intercepting .cgi links on a page? (Original question on this list, page 19)
Joe
P.S. The level of support you give on this list is quite admirable - especially because you're doing almost all of it yourself and for free.

@cdrfirefox:
that looks like an Extension Manager corruption.
Could you try to follow the steps outlined in this article?
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_:_Iss ... sion_files
@BobbyBrown:
No idea of what's going on there.
I'll investigate and will let you know.
Regarding "anonymization", if you want the referrer URL not to be sent with FlashGot downloads you must use the FlashGot option.
@Josephj:
You make the stream play by starting its player in the browser, and while it's playing open the FlashGot menu and select "FlashGot media" (then you can stop it, if you want).
There's no documentation about this feature because it's not been officially released yet.
The official features are documented here.
Most of the download managers for Windows are supported on Linux as well through Wine.

Re: [ext] FlashGot 1.0 - Lord of the Links
I have a similar problem to cdrfirefox, but with Seamonkey v1.1.11. After installing that and flashgot 1.0.5 (as root), I run seamonkey as user and get:
[Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x8000ffff (NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED) [nsIPrefBranch.getComplexValue]" nsresult: "0x8000ffff (NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED)" location: "JS frame :: file:///usr/local/seamonkey/components/flashgotService.js :: anonymous :: line 3880" data: no]
Have tried everything to stop this error: clean browser install, no other addons, even fresh profile - nothing helps.
Note that seamonkey works useably after the error, provided only flashgot is installed. If other addons are there (eg. adblock plus, which works fine by itself) the browser becomes unusable, with missing menus, links not working, can't quit without killing, etc.
Looks to me as if flashgot is the problem, perhaps an incompatibility with latest Seamonkey? Please help, I use both a lot!

@guy_g:
that's not a fatal error, it's logged just for debugging purposes (FlashGot is reading a certain preference which couldn't be found).
I don't know if FlashGot has any part in your overall problems (therube will tell you that AB+ and FG work fine together on Seamonkey), but that message definitely means nothing.

Re: [ext] FlashGot 1.0 - Lord of the Links
I must be missing something.
I went to
http://www.mahalo.com/Olympic_Table_Tennis
and clicked on the flash video there which started playing.
I then did a Firefox Tools->Flashgot and I don't see Flashgot Media there or under More Options. So, where do I find it?
Is this feature in 1.0.5 or do I need a newer development version for it to work?

Hello to all,
Thanks one more time for your help that's very nice from You and I shall wait for, maybe You'll find something...
@Josephj:
DownThemAll! (free): A very fast download manager completely embedded in Firefox, including "like-FlashGot All" and "one-click download" functions. Last but not least, it seems to work very well with FlashGot.
FlashGet (free): It's also a very fast download manager which is able to download BT but it's an external one so, and that's why FlashGot is a very useful software, manage it through FlashGot. One problem, I don't know if it works on Linux...
GetRight (trial): I used to download through this software many years ago, I don't know/use newer version but it was a very good download manager and it's in the FlashGot's download manager list.

If You want, you can download here two files to fix the french translation which is not completed in the FlashGot 1.0.5.6 Development Build...

- See the official DownThemAll! 1.0.3 download page for more informations.
You can also have a look at its official Mozilla Firefox Add-ons page.
You can/want/should also try the latest Nightly Builds (like FlashGot's Development Builds but automatically generated every nights so bugs can occur as others can be fixed).
- FlashGet 1.73, old (aka Classic) version without BT & Vista support. Try this one if You encounter problems with the 1.9.6 release...
FlashGet 1.9.6, the best alternative ( (BT & Vista support) until a "better" FlashGet 2.x version comes out!
FlashGet 2.0, new version but some old features are still missing.
FlashGet 2.1 (only in Chinese for now).
