howdy IcI,

for your second item, take a look at the 2nd quote in this post ...
viewtopic.php?p=11636909#p11636909

as for anything more, this extension has been dead for so long that no one is likely to want to do the work. you weren't even willing to read the "previous 5-10 pages or so". why would anyone else do it for you? [*grin*]

Why not just take out the parts that have no hope of working on newer versions of Firefox and release what is left as a regular add-on? I like the chrome editor, and use it frequently. I also use some of the extra buttons in the addon bar in Firefox, and some in Thunderbird in its toolbar. I like the extra about:* commands in the Help menu, and the extra things in the Tools menu, and the restart added to the File menu is really helpful sometimes.
I am curious to know why the Extension Options item works fine with Firefox but not with Thunderbird?

howdy Anonymosity,

i take it that most of us here in this thread aint programmers. [*grin*] otherwise one of us _would_ have forked the extension by now.

as pointed out, there are many extensions that cover bits and parts of MRTT. a bit of research can show quite a few. none that do quite as graceful a job as MRTT in its heyday, but more than good enuf.

take care,

Mr Tech Toolkit not working with Greasemonkey as the scripts are not displaying. Other than that works perfectly fine. But to modify scripts I have to disable and restart Firefox.

Hi,

From the author's website: [version 6.0.4.9 currently] [latest version?, better than AMO's?, Functional?]
http://www.mrtech.com/extensions/#toolkit
Right-click on the "DOWNLOAD" link and save-as or just click and install.

On the other hand, if you decide to go with alternatives... perhaps you can reverse-engineer the list below
From the MR Tech Toolkit from the AddonsMozillaOrg (AMO) website:

Special Note: [extension author wrote this list]
Just as a heads up the following extensions can be disabled or uninstalled if you have version 5.3.2 installed:
1. About [Button]
2. AboutConfig (Thunderbird 1.5 or newer)
3. About:Config (ff) by Sonny Piers (pitux)
4. About:Config (Sunbird)
5. about:kitchensink
6. AboutPlug
7. Add-ons Sidebar
8. Browse Extension
9. ChromEdit
10. ChromEdit 2
11. ChromEdit Plus
12. Config Files Editor
13. Clear Cache Button
14. Clear Private Data... (Add-Ons)
15. Close All Child Windows
16. Disallow XPInstall
17. EMButtons: Firefox & Thunderbird
18. Edit Config Files
19. Ext2Abc
20. Ext2File
21. Extension List Dumper
22. Get All Mail
23. HideUpdate
24. Install New Theme
25. ListZilla
26. MR Tech's About:About
27. MR Tech's Disable XPI Delay
28. MR Tech's Toggle Preview Pane
29. Nightly Tester Tools Lite
30. Open Profile Folder
31. Option Menu
32. Options Toolbar
33. Profile Folder
34. QuickRestart
35. Restart Firefox
36. Restart Thunderbird
37. Sanitize
38. Show Extension Directory
39. Show Failed URL (for Firefox 1.0.x based browser)
40. Simple Add-ons Button
41. Simple Clear Button
42. Simple EMbuttons
43. Simple Options Button
44. Slim Extension List
45. Sort Extensions
46. Throbber Button
47. Titlebar Tweaks
48. Toggle Preview Pane

The above list is probably old, outdated, and newer addons have been created that work better, but it's a start. Hope you all can enjoy things.
I would post my signature... but I can't figure out how to type cursive yet

What other option is there that works with with the Firefox 10? Not being able to modify scripts running with GMonkey is starting to really bother me but what other extension allows local installs, enable all addons, or bypass time delay?

bypass time delay:
about:config > security.dialog_enable_delay > set to 0

local installs:
about:addons > click the gear (near the top right) > install Add-on from file... (you can select multiple files.)

I don't know about 'enable all addons'.

Did you guys see this from "Are add-ons keeping you on Firefox 3.6?" blog by Jorge Villalobos?

"Mr Tech Toolkit. I tried to get in touch with the developers to no avail. They have an updated version available on their site. I normally wouldn’t recommend non-AMO add-ons, but I reviewed the current file (toolkit.xpi, version 6.0.4.9000) and everything looks good, except for a few features that appear to be broken. If you use this add-on, I’d like to hear which of its features you use."

No one yet has replied in the blog comment section regarding MR Tech.

I am using that one now, and it works fine. I wonder why the max version was not bumped up for Thunderbird as well as for Firefox? It works in Thunderbird after having the max version increased for Thunderbird target app. For that matter, I cannot help wondering why the file is not made downloadable. To get the extension into Thunderbird, I had to copy the .xpi file from Firefox's profile, rename it (to recognize it), before I could install it.

Depends which functionalities interest you.

I use Nightly Tester Tools plus a set of smaller add-ons such as Restartless Restart etc.
Best regards,
Tony
