Does keyconfig works with Firefox 1.0 PR?

Secondly, if it works can I use it to add my own keyboard shortcuts? I need something really simple: shortcut combinations to type some special characters on FireFox, like crtl-alt-u will give me ü or crtl-alt-g will give me a ğ (I am now copy/pasting them and no I can't change my keyboard settings easily).
How can I achieve this, any ideas?

Thanks.

No

Perhaps via http://www.mozilla.org/unix/customizing.html#keys but I'm not sure, otherwise take a look at http://www.tedmontgomery.com/tutorial/ALTchrc.html

It works with 0.8. I use it right now.

Does anybody have an idea how to add keyboard shortcut to a command that doesn't have shortcutkey by default?
Would it be possible to add new keybindings via user.js or Preferential extension?

It refuses to install on mine - says it only works with up to 0.7. How did you install it?

Thanks dorando. The first one seems a lot of work and I guess you can only change the shortcuts for existing commands. The second one was helpful though.

Can I set a shortcut function to Control+Space bar? If yes, how?

http://www.mozilla.org/unix/customizing.html#keys might help, but I havn't tested it.

Just to make sure, you must be online while Installing the extension, because it needs to contact my webserver to get updated version compatibility info. Read http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox ... pdate.html section "How Firefox Determines Compatibility" (which is also valid for Thunderbird) if you want know more.

Just type a space " " in the right box.

Thanks - I installed it in the end, but now I have had to uninstall Thunderbird 0.8 because it seems to be a bit buggy at present. Went back to 0.6 and that is OK. So all's well that ends well.

Thanks for the support

I tried keyconfig with Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040914, but it didn't work. The list in the keyconfig dialog is completely blank. The Javascript console says:

Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x8000ffff (NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED) [nsIPrefBranch.getBoolPref]" nsresult: "0x8000ffff (NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://keyconfig/content/keyconfig.js :: onLoad :: line 6" data: no]

It worked fine on Firefox, though...

Anyone have this problem?

20041025:
- Replaced the two input boxes with an auto-recognizer, as I think I found a way to correctly recognize all keys supported by the core.
- Shortcuts should now be displayed the same way they are displayed in the Menu.
- Added "Disable" button which removes command/oncommand attributes.
- While there is no UI for it, it is now possible to add new keys, see Configurations above.
- Better name detection which maps some keys internally to other keys and also includes names of submenus if available.
- Added "keyconfig.nicenames.reverse_order" and "keyconfig.devmode". See Configurations above.
- Fixed SeaMonkey Install script.
