image toolbar, unix problem
hi,
i wonder if anybody yet checked image toolbar 0.2 under a unix or unix-like operating system. it basicly works but it always puts a \ at the beginning of the filename, which shouldn't be a problem under a windows operating system but is a problem under unix and should also be a problem under mac os x as directories are separated with a / under these operating systems.

Sorry to post back with negative news, it's not gonna be out today. It will be soon though, but since I was awake for 22 hours yesterday without a proportional amount of sleep to compensate, I don't really feel like doing anything much today. Getting home from a day out at 5am wasn't the plan, but it's what happened.

0.3 is not quite ready for Fx0.9 yet, however, it works fine with Fx0.8... I'll hopefully have a fix for an entirely unrelated issue and then I can release 0.3, which already works with the EM just fine.
Meanwhile, you can use this extension to access the options for 0.2.

It's time for the 0.3 release. There's a couple of new things that I think you'll like listed below, most of them are fixes though.
Install: here.
Updates:
- Compatible with 0.9
- CTRL+Click now works when Autosave is the default save button action.
- High CPU usage is fixed for sites that have many images.
- Middle Click should no longer interfere with Autoscrolling.
- Should always appear on screen if the image is scrolled to the side or top.
- Option for toolbar to appear relative to the cursor.
Notes:
I had to back out the vBulletin attachment saving fix. Unfortunately you won't be able to use Autosave on them with this release, as planned. Thanks to MonkeeSage for supplying the code that fixed it, but there's something different in 0.9 to 0.8 that causes a few seconds of delay when saving any image with the fix implemented. This will be fixed in 0.4... I would normally hold the release, but 0.9 is due any day now, so this needs to go out in a compatible and usable state.

Excellent update Cusser. Thanks.
I tried the 'Relative to Cursor' mode and it's very nice. I did notice some weird behavior with viewing a large image and using autoscrolling with the middle-click. The toolbar would appear at a certain offset away from the cursor relative to where the cursor was when autosrolling ended.
Also, Cusser, would it be possible for the toolbar to extract the button graphics from the running Firefox theme? There's already the Downloads and Copy button. I think the Home button can be understood as open Image (Home) Folder.

Themes don't all use the same image names, or even put the graphics in the same location. Themers have to support the extension rather than the reverse. Mostly Crystal supports Image Toolbar, there are probably others.mimeryme wrote:Also, Cusser, would it be possible for the toolbar to extract the button graphics from the running Firefox theme?

Since some of these are non-standard icons, most themes also don't have all the icons I needed for this toolbar... Copy and Mail now exist by default, but there isn't really a suitable save icon or folder icon in the default theme (AFAIK, since I haven't used the new default a lot yet).
If the situation changes in the future so that there are more icons available by default, I'll change the extension to use them, but until then, I've got Qute icons and encourage theme authors to add support for Image Toolbar if they wish.
