@LUJIANG:
Looks like FlashGet 2 didn't get uninstalled correctly.
Try reinstalling and uninstalling it carefully.
If that doesn't help, you may want to try a registry cleaner utility.

@GarethJS:
It's working fine for me.
Could you set the javascript.options.showInConsole about:config preference to true and check if any FlashGot-related message appears in Tools|Error Console when you open the context menu?
Also, does FlashGot Options|Advanced|Show Log display anything interesting?
Reinstalling may help, too.
If not, could you try Standard Diagnostic?

@therube:
1.1.0.2 should work with almost everything in your list: only 3 sites still resist (I'll leave it to you discovering which), and one of them can perhaps be tamed in a future release.

I had a few minutes to give 1.1.0.1 a whirl & found some that still hadn't worked.
When I got time, I was going to post on those.
When I get time, I'll put 1.1.0.2 through its paces & see what turns up.

With 1.1.01, I did notice on one site (?), FlashGot Media showed (2) (theoretical) downloads, but only one was passed to the download manager. And on one site (?) the wrong "link" was captured.

(Again, if I can duplicate it with 1.1.0.2, you shall know.)

I noticed recently that FlashGot will no longer show up in my context menu. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both FlashGet and FlashGot, but no luck. Any ideas on what could be triggering this?

FWIW, in FlashGot 1.1.0.1, I am seeing reports of "Unrecoverable init error: this.contextMenu has no properties" in flashgot.log.

Perhaps that does not really indicate a problem? Looks like I've been getting that from time to time for at least a month now (thats how old my log is).

@tomhouy:
can you see any error message apparently related to FlashGot if you set your javascript.options.showInConsole about:config preference to true?
If not, could you try the steps outlined in this article?

@therube:
I suppose you get it in SM only. Just a guess, did you notice if it happens when you open a non-browser window like view source or mail?

Is there anything other then SeaMonkey ;-).
Yes, View Page Source reliably adds that line to flashgot.log.
(I don't use mail.)

PS: Separately, from time to time, & it seems to happen in spurts, like 3 or 4 times consecutively, & then not again for weeks, I'll get flashgot "crashing". Windows Error Reporting pops up, I'll retry the link, it will probably "crash" a couple more times, then it will work successfully. When it "crashes" it does not adversely affect my browsing session, i.e. SeaMonkey does not crash.

Code: Select all

Faulting application flashgot.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module msvcrt.dll, version 7.0.2600.5512, fault address 0x00037fd4.

@therube:
FlashGot had been designed since the beginning not to bring down the browsing session in case of fault or leak, because it must interface with several external applications which may be buggy by themselves.
What download manager are you using when you see it happening?
Could you send me the content of your FlashGot temporary directory just after the crash?
On a side note, did you have any chance to try 1.1.0.2's enhanced "FlashGot Media"?

I still cannot get Flashgot to work with Rapidshare. It seems that it is possible for some people but I have never been able to get it to work the way that megaupload does. I use XP, with DAP 8.7.0.1, also Orbit on your recommendation (but Orbit does seem very intuotive to a simplelton like me).

Can you please send me a Rapidshare link that is known to work with Flashgot, so I can test that, and eliminate you previous suggestion that there were some links that did not work properly.

NetTransport (NetXfer 2.64)

>Could you send me the content of your FlashGot temporary directory just after the crash?

Next time I catch it in the act.

Only briefly, but I haven't had time to go through my list yet. With each iteration it gets better though.

@johne_3065

Here is a rapidshare link. (I cannot vouch for its' contents.)
http://rapidshare.com/files/118146952/f ... sm.xpi.zip

Alt+clicking the download button (not the above link itself) successfully sends/downloads it to/with my download manager.

(You must Alt+click if you are using a free rapidshare account.)

Alt+click will work fine on the link itself as long as you've got a Premium account and your Premium Zone|Settings|Configuration|Direct downloads, requested files are saved without redirection via RapidShare option checked.

1.1.0.2 has just about knocked out my FlashGot Media list.

http://www.porkolt.com/funny/LET-MY-LOV ... 81354.html
no big deal, but ... 2 links grabbed. 1st is a link to the video, 2nd is the actual video.
(movies on pornkolt are the same way)

i've got a couple sites where nothing see's the stream. not Orbit/Grab++, not NetTransport, not FlashGot, not WebVideoCap (at least in raw sockets mode, i don't have WinPCap installed).
on these two sites, the stream does not end up in /Cache/ or %TMP% either that i can see.

conveniently, but unfortunately, i had a FlashGot crash. it was on http://www.photobucket.com/.

one site throws out two separate download links, different URLs, both valid, downloading the same content. i suppose that is common on certain services (more then 1 link for the same media) & i would expect FlashGot to see them both.

(i've only checked this in SeaMonkey/1.1.11 this time.)

i'll email you more in a bit.

Hi,
Since some days, Depositfiles batch doesn't seem to work anymore. I checked many links which are working with a manual download, and I hadn't changed anything in my conf.
Maybe DF has not only changed its website design ^^

Thanks for this. I'm really not sure what you mean by the download button. I don't see any button next to this link. What download button do you mean. If I click (not Alt+click) on the link, it opens a File Download pop up window from DAP.
