Forced is breaking other sites - for some downloaders.

From here:
http://media.photobucket.com/video/trai ... ns.flv?o=5

Code: Select all

Actual link is:
http://vid303.photobucket.com/albums/nn128/leonloft/loft/Trains.flv

FlashGot'd link is:
http://vid303.photobucket.com/albums/nn128/leonloft/loft/Trains.flv%23/Trains_video_by_leonloft_on_Photobucket_Trains.flv

FlashGot'd link fails - in NetTransport 2. Orbit does work though.

Suggestion:

Mouse hover over of icon showing number of links & or names/URLs.

That way you can see the number of links found, or even the name/URL without the need to right-click the icon. Left click leaves you in the dark till the links are sent to download manager.

@therube:

That works.

There's a difference:
%23
?%23

Code: Select all

http://vid303.photobucket.com/albums/nn128/leonloft/loft/Trains.flv%23/Trains_video_by_leonloft_on_Photobucket_Trains.flv
http://vid303.photobucket.com/albums/nn128/leonloft/loft/Trains.flv?%23/Trains_video_by_leonloft_on_Photobucket_Trains.flv

Also ...

In the first instance, the (failed) downloaded file would be named:
"Trains_video_by_leonloft_on_Photobucket_Trains.flv".
In the second instance, the completed download is simply:
"Trains.flv".

@therube:
OK, as expected.
Install again 1.1.0.3 and it should degrade gracefully this time, using the query string trick.

The trains, they are a runnin' :-).

(Hey any vulnerabilities in using that trick. Probably ought to install NoScript to make sure I'm safe ;-).)

More going on ...

Something like this is not working:

Code: Select all

http://anonym.to/http://media.photobucket.com/video/trains/leonloft/loft/Trains.flv?o=5
http://anonym.to/http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=2wrfb5g&s=4

This did work in 1.1.0.2, if I recall? Or maybe I hadn't actually attempted it, but just caught it now?

I may have broken something by re-installing 1.1.0.2 into another Profile (in SeaMonkey). (Something like that can always be problematic in SeaMonkey I suppose when trying to run various versions in different Profile.) Or maybe I didn't break anything? Not sure?

& more ... not sure ...

perhaps a video link to from another site, might pick up, or at least "show", the "Forced" from the link site rather then the "name" from the video's site ... perhaps? ... guess there is no way to know the name from the video's site, since there isn't one per say? ... eh, not sure what I'm saying here, but there's something to it.

No anonym.to looks like it is just something I hadn't noticed before. But, you should still be able to see it ;-). Other port scanners do.

Or maybe you can see it with anonym.to the first time, or for the first file, & not for subsequent files, or ... haven't put my finger on it. Sometimes I'll get Media, other times not?

Interesting-ish (& nothing to do with FlashGot) ...
If you anonym.to tinypic.com with tinypic.com as the referrer there's weirdness going on, getting a "Video Not Found" "video" but it's actually there, kind of.

perhaps a video link to from another site, might pick up, or at least "show", the "Forced" from the link site

I see. (On other then Youtube), my download manager is showing the fully passed "URL" which is both the actual URL & the Force name. The name is presented right justified, so I am seeing the Forced name, but the actual download comes down with the actual URL.

And in the same way, depending up the page <title>, it may also show the site name in addition to what one might manually "force" the name to be. So if <title> was "YouBucket - the little train that could", Force is picking that up, where if you were to manually put something in, you would only select "the little train that could"+.flv.

I believe I mentioned it before, but if you're able to determine the clip length & display that also, that would be beneficial. Gather, for most clips, that information is known as soon as it starts. And then if you were to scroll through the clip, each additional segments (?start=20732738) length should be known too.

I think I'm getting Media icon on wmv clips too, but it's ineffectual.

Yes.

Mpeg works, you didn't mention that.

This Wmv works.

So, it's just in the fine tuning. You're doing good work there Giorgio.

Ah, there must be differences depending upon whether a clip has been cached or not.
That may explain why Media shows or not at times.

If a URL contains ? or & characters, you're likely to run into troubles.

(PORN WARNING! the clip isn't, but links or other pics on the page may)

*(SMACKS FOREHEAD)*

Thanks Giorgio ... *NOW* I finally get it (sheesh) ... only had to hit me w/ the 2x4 a *few* times (sigh). Yeah it works as advertised. I had gotten so used to the 'old way' that I had stopped and canceled everything when I didn't see what I had expected to see. Now I understand that all I had to do was turn on the Direct Download in MU *AND* just let the original file link go through to FDM. Sorry for being so bloody dense (sigh).

One last question (for now) ... do you have any idea how to have FDM show the pending downloads as the actual filename instead of (in my case) 'index.html' in the filename column? When the download of a particular file actually starts, then the actual download filename does show in the filename column in FDM otherwise, if it's still pending, all I get is several rows of 'index.html' which gets rather confusing.

Thanks again ....

@Giorgio
Thanks for your fix ;) It's okay with 1.1.0.3 now, I'll alert you in a case of problem.
