Something aint right. I updated Firefox 1.5.0.1. Had to make Super D&G compatible. Wheras it worked fine before the Firefox update, I had to diable it cos it kept causing Firefox to freeze which in turn caused everything else to lock up. About 6 manual reeboots later only by disabling this one extension did everything else work OK. Boy, I miss this extension - it was sooooooooo good. Update please!
If only everything in life was so simple

I want to replace default directional search engines with my favorite ones.
I've changed superdragandgo-0.2.6.xpi to superdragandgo-0.2.6.zip -> unpacked -> 'chrome' folder -> changed superdrag.jar to superdrag.zip -> unpacked -> 'content' folder -> edited superdrag.js -> what is next?
I've tried to create .zip and then change to .jar but seems it doesn't work since when installing I get an error: Install script not found. How to create .jar file?

A .jar file is just a .zip file with a different extension.rozin wrote:I want to replace default directional search engines with my favorite ones.

1. Did you put the .jar file back in the chrome directory of the .XPI file?
2. Did you accidentally delete the install.rdf and/or chrome.manifest file that should exist in the root of the .XPI file?
You should put things back EXACTLY where you found them. The directory structure is very important.

As I've mentioned in some other thread, (generic) you should use a shell extension or utility like WinZIP or WinRAR that makes .ZIP (and hence .JAR and .XPI) archives look like regular subdirectories. This way you can see where exactly you are drag'n'dropping things. I use Total Commander personally.

some improvement requests
foreword: i posted this on the website on the formular, but the text seemed not to be formatted, so i came here and posted it -formatted- again.
hi,
your Super DragAndGo is really a good and needful invention :-)
thank you for that!
but you could improve it, if you add (to the options):
-size/distance: <NNN> (in pixels) of how long the user has to "drag&go" the current picture to actually save it. so, a lot of mistakly saved pictures won't be saved. (a great thing about size, and how the user knows/sees it, is in the "all-in-one-gestures" extension, which draws a line on the screen. so the user could define a colour and a distance so that he/she doesnt save too many pics by accident, which often happens to me)
-same as above for text.
-[x] save linked images.
which means, that not the image itself is saved, but the image the picture is linked. thumbnails are a good example for this. (you could add an option to right-click-and-drag will save the original picture, left-click-and-drag will save the linked picture)
or:
-when the user drops a dragged image or a text, he/she could be asked by a upcoming popup-windows what to do? save/discard/copy to clipboard/save to text-file/etc...
ok, thats it :-)
please tell me, what do you think.

There is a bug dragging links formatted as display:block. See testcase here.
I have Super DragAndGo v0.2.4 and Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20060218 Firefox/1.5 - Build ID: 2006021803
Edit: nevermind, I found the bug, it is <a href="https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=206144">bug 206144</a>

Search areas
Can this extension be extended to support different areas to search with different search engines? I mean if i drag and drop a text in the upper right of the displayed web-page Google is used. If I drag and drop to the lower rigth IMDB and so on. That would be nice...
But - of what I see in this thread is no further developmemt of this extension nowadays

For Super DragAndGo on Mac OS X, Is there a special format in specifying the directory where 'dragged' images are saved? This is when bypassing the 'use download manager' option in the preferences.
I've tried different combinations of filepaths with preceding slashes/drivenames/etc and I'm having no luck.

It seems that the searchbox API has been totally reworked in Firefox 2, and as a result, SDAG's drag-to-search feature is broken with Firefox 2. I took 0.2.6 (non-directional) and redid the drag-and-search code so that it works now with Firefox 2's new searchbox implementation.

Can somebody please do as code65536 mentions on that web page (code diffs, etc.) and find a good version of the directional SuperDragandGo with security patch and apply his modifications to make it work with Firefox 2? If someone does so it could probably be hosted on that same site and people would have their choice of if they want directional or not.
Thanks.
P.S. Thanks very much code65536 for fixing this extremely useful extension for us. There was a thread on mozillazine about SuperDragandGo not working with FF2, a while back (a month?) and someone posted a fixed version, based off 2.4 I recall. I don't believe it was you, but I can't find that thread with the search easily right now.
Thanks.

I've switched from Super Drag'n'Go to Drag de Go. It's kept up to date and has far far more configuration and gesture options. You can configure searching gestures, too.
