I'm testing out 2.48b1 and I'm finding that the Find bar doesn't show up if I use the keyboard shortcut or via the Menu bar.
Can anyone duplicate this?

Probably extension releted. If you use the seafox extensions this is it.

In that light, Safe Mode.
Fire 750, bring back 250.

Just an update, the Find bar is working again in 2.49.1 even with Sea Fox enabled.

Just a note that the problem is showing up also on SeaMonkey 2.48 on macOS 10.12.6 (Sierra). Disabling Sea Fox fixes the problem, but at some cost, I cannot seem to find a about:config Browser.tabs.closeButton value that turns it back on (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=534221)
