Hello everyone,

I was upgraded to SeaMonkey 2.53.15 today. Immediately after, Mail & Newsgroups can no longer connect to my IMAP server and access my mail. The folder and (older) messages are visible, the message frame is empty. I am not asked for my IMAP password. When I click on any message, it is not loaded. The program simply sits there with the status message "[e-mail address]: Connected to [server]..." for hours. Restart did not solve the problem.

Is this a known bug?

Many thanks, Couscous

Edit: Platform is Win 10 Pro 64, up-to-date.

Moving to SeaMonkey Support.

Who is the email provider?
Without posting your full email address, what settings do you have under menu path Tools->Account Settings Server Settings:
Server name:
Port # :
User name : (Is it your full name or just the bit before the @ symbol)
Connection Security:
Authentication Method:

Hi Dan,

The e-mail provider is a large international research organization, the server is Exchange 2010
Server name: imap.[domain].[tld], Port 993
Username: [only the bit before the @ symbol]
Connection security: SSL/TLS
Authentication method: Normal password

All of this has been unchanged for the last 10 years or so.

Thanks, Couscous

I just found instructions pertaining to Thunderbird 78 and above, which fixed my issue:

security.tls.version.min must be set to 1 (apparently set to 3 per default as of SeaMonkey 2.53.15).

(set in about:config)

Thanks, Couscous
