Version 2.32 RSS Feeds broken

Post by jones23 »

Version 2.32 breaks RSS feeds: After update from 2.31 to 2.32 RSS feeds don't get updated anymore, even manual refreshing doesn't work.

I have the same problem after updating to 2.32. When I try to update feeds by selecting "Get Messages", it gets stuck with "Checking feeds for new items.." and doesn't update anything.

Edit: My OS is Lubuntu 14.04.1 LTS 32-bit.

When it fails, do you see anything appear in the Error Console (Ctrl-Shift-J) or in the terminal if you run SeaMonkey from a terminal?

For me, nothing appears if I run it from terminal. In Error Console it shows the following error for every feed it tries to update:

Code: Select all

Error: ReferenceError: can't access let declaration `tags' before initialization

That's generally the purpose of beta testing.. ;)

Came here to post this in support forum...luckily I always search first!

Is there a rough ETA for a fix? Not sure how to workaround it short of a rollback to 2.31, which I'd rather avoid as I love having Ghostery back.

I did a rollback to 2.31 because of this bug. Hopefully it will get fixed soon.

Hi, how did you rollback to 2.31? Is there any preventative measure or do you need only to run 2.31 installation file?

@nikos_bo: You are on Windows, so:
1) Completely shut down SeaMonkey, then back up your profile folder to an external disk, then remove the external disk from the system. This way you have backup you can restore from later if something goes wrong.
2) Uninstall SeaMonkey (Control Panel > Programs & Features), make sure you opt to keep your data
3) Run the 2.31 installer

That's for Thunderbird. See Comment 39 for SeaMonkey. I've landed the patch on comm-release which currently means SeaMonkey 2.32.1. comm-release graph
