seamonkey does not forbid big giant javascript alert

hi,

once again, i suddenly got stick with a giant javascript alertbox.

why seamonkey doesn't not have a counter-line to check the height of alertbox which it displays ?

like my exemple, there is a bunch ofcrappy scrpt who abuse of that with many line return, so you cannot hit the ok button, then you cannot check the checkbox to forbid the next appearence of the box !
then you cannot resizie the content either to scroll donw its content !

as bug is really really really easy to reproduce and test, why can't you just fix it , please ?

The first question you should ask yourself is: Why does this pop up? In privacy and security you can set to manage websites which are allowed to show pop up windows. In this case you can block this from the start to happen. If you do not use a script blocker like Noscript and/or and adblocker like Adblock+ big windows are imho usually the least of your problems when browsing.

Anyway this is a backend feature and should work (or in you case) not work like in Firefox. If Firefox adds it it can be added to Seamonkey or will be picked up automatically. It might be possible to just implement it in Seamonkey but with the current shortage of manpower I wouldn't bet on it soon. I would't even want to do it. Have not seen a popup I didn't want to see in ages because of extensions and privacy settings.

because there are some legitimate page with crappy banner which create such problem.
i have to allow the javascript in the page-domain.
Even in captcha page, it can appear.

You can intercept alert() for that page with a user script or NoScript surrogate script, and cut off the last however many lines. Something like this: (warning - untested)

that giant alert box are really boring ! i got more and more!
many (almost four in a time clic) sometimes !
there should be a fix, or at last , when i forbid one, the seamonkey should not reopen another ore (different domain but same content) !

the problem is that it came from regular and legal site (like capatcha page) where there are crappy advert around the captacha field. if i sotp the javascript, i stopped the captacha and i have another problem.

Can't you just press the ESC key on your keyboard to dismiss the alert box? Or has the JavaScript disabled that?

And if you're visiting legitimate Web sites that have such advertising, have you tried complaining to the site owner? If they're purposely allowing such advertising, they don't sound very legitimate to me.

OK, so I've found some other "dialog boxes" (not sure if generated by an "alert"), that wouldn't close that way, that you had to ... trying to think ... I believe I had to close the underlying window itself (so that would tend to indicate that it was not generated by an alert).

in the top-upper field named "code" , just enter and validate that :

as i said, at least Seamonkey should prevent higher alertbox than the seamonkey heigh broswer or add an option to strip the \n in alertbox content
or have an aoption to replace giant alertbox by a classic message "do you know to view the giant content?"
