New Release Email?

This seems like such an obvious thing that I'm incredulous it isn't available, but I've hunted all over the place and seen no such thing:

Is there no way to get a notification or email or other alert when a new build is released? I used to get a notification, but it's been lacking for a long time now.

Been that way for a long time now.
Updates have been lacking for a long time now.
But ... soon(er or later) [stay tuned for a 2.49.5] .


And, Why is the update function not working?
