You did include a way to turn this off before you implemented it, right...... [-o<

Well, no. Lots of things needed to be changed under the hood to make tabs scrollable and we can't just flip a switch. Perhaps you could explain the main problems you have with scrollable tabs? Given that we are approaching the end run for SeaMonkey 2.1. I can't promise anything.

Phil

My main problem with them is that it changes entirely the way I use my browser, and not it a way that improves my experience, just the opposite. They end up causing me to waste time scrolling for disappeared tabs. I see absolutely no redeeming features in this new "feature".

I don't like it, I don't want it and I won't use it. I cannot even see why such a thing was implemented. Worst decision ever (imho, of course.) And to implement such a thing without an option to switch it of....my God, what were you thinking...???

Also note that I am not criticizing your skills or anything like that. I am just perplexed at the decisions made.

Methinks maybe you have too many tabs open.

Took 14 tabs to be open for me before the scrolling took effect. The most I ever have open at one time is 11.

Then again everyone's browsing habits are different.

I didn't even know that feature existed until you complained about it.

Still, like it. May even find a use for it someday. =D>

What scrolling tab bar? How many tabs do I need to open to observe it?

23 is the magic number for me. I rarely have that many tabs open. I just kept opening them until the scrollbars appeared. Maybe screen resolution has an effect on how many are opened before they appear.

Truth is, my mind boggles at the thought that such a thing was implemented with no off switch.
I did a cursory check on the board, saw no mention concerning a scrolling tab bar.

O, IC...somebody thought it was a 'bug' the way it was. (and I did say I only did a cursory check, didn't go that far back.)

Personally, I find the way it is now far far more bugging. I can't believe that I am the only one that finds it better the way it was.

Is there a way I could delete the scrolling code myself...??

I looked at the code contained in the bug link you posted...yikes. Clearly a lot of work went into implementing it...work that dwarfs any skills I have.

Nevertheless.....

No but you could look at Tonymec's flowing tabs userChrome.css at:
http://users.skynet.be/antoine.mechelynck/other/userChrome-seamonkey.css
Scroll down to the tabbbrowser section.

Why could I not delete the scrolling code for my own personal use..??(I assume I'm missing something)

I looked briefly at the link above...now I have a headache... #-o
Anyhoo...past my bedtime...I'll look again tomorrow.

Thanks.

In the meantime...please try to think of a way to opt out(or however one might put it... [-o<

Because you also need to put back the old code that the new scrolling code replaces?

And just like that, blamo...I fixed it.
I set the browser.tabs.tabMinWidth, to 5. Seems I was forgetting to restart the browser to see the effects before. Regardless, I now have eliminated the, er, feature that had distressed me so.

Phil, I do so hope you will at least put the task of providing user control(in the form of on/off) to your baby.

Thanks...

I remember someone mentioned a work-around like that, viewtopic.php?p=10477247#p10477247 ;-).
