BSOD after cancel sending email

Post by Rob_S »

Using 2.6 b3 on HP DV7 laptop windows 7 64bit, the other day I was sending out an email with a small attachment, and before it was finished, I hit cancel to make some changes, and got the dreaded BSOD, which I have not ever before or since had on this computer.

After going back to a restore point in windows, I had to reinstall Seamonkey, and lightning, and now everything is working again, but i'm scared of the cancell button.

Has anyone else experienced this???

What was the BSOD?
(Perhaps BlueScreenView could shed some light.)
Would think it highly irregular for SeaMonkey to be the cause of a BSOD.
(Only thing that would come to mind possibly could be video card [& SeaMonkey] related?)

(Surprised that SeaMonkey was affected by the Restore Point, but maybe its different in W7 in that respect?)

The good thing is, it hasn't happened agiin, even though I have not actually tried to cancel a send in progress.

It seems the Win 7 restore point digs up an old copy of the registry, and replaces the newer one.

I lost recent files on the recent file lists, and maybe because I had just recently installed 2.6b3, the new registry entries were replaced with older ones, which may have prevented Seamonkey from starting after the restore..

I did not lose any files or emails.

Surprisingly, excel managed to cough up an older version of an autosave file, and stupidly, I saved that over my newer one.

Wonders of windows...
