SM 2.10 not using separate process for Flash?

Post by RDaneel »

The 2.10 beta seems to be good at reclaiming memory and keeping the footprint down (Win 7 x64)... :)

... but where are the infamous extra processes that used to be used to run plugins like Flash? Is Flash now some HTML 5 magic that is built in to Gecko? Or has the out-of-process model fallen out of favor (yes, I may be out of touch with the latest trends)?

Flash is Flash & HTML5 is HTML5.
A page that displays Flash, displays Flash, Thick as a brick.
A page that displays HTML5, displays HTML5, Too Old to Rock 'n' Roll Too Young to Die.
Some pages will do one or the other depending on browser capabilities (& or particular link followed).
OOPP (plugin-container.exe) is still used (but not for HTML5).
Fire 750, bring back 250.
