SeaMonkey 2.49.5 RC2 is up

Post by frg »

https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/seamonk ... es/build2/

We found a minor problem with the Linux chatZilla language pack and decided to do a build 3. It will also contain a small fix to make the latest version of the lookout add-on compatible. RC2 should be fine for everyone.

If you want to use the Windows x64 version please deinstall the old 32 bit version first.

Did they change the UI? How is it looking good?

Why can't I find a Windows version to test on my Win10 laptop here? What happened to build 3?

I noticed that, but since we don't have that folder for Thunderbird candidates didn't click it. Thanks! =D>

I'll wait for build 3 to run it through the Thunderbird test procedure with some web browser testing added to the procedure.

Recently finished testing the 64-bit Windows build of SeaMonkey 2.49.5 on Windows 10.

I had one crash.

https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/ ... a420190809

Also had to file a bug report for a newsgroup(s) defect.

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1572828

Anyone use the Mozilla newsgroups want to do some testing and see if you get the same behavior. Or with any group on any news server.

I am unable to reproduce the newsgroup defect. I think I encountered this before when Windows didn't set the associations right. news was basically not set. Look in the Windows settings and see if news is news is associated with a program.

I need to downlaod the symbols from our build server. ewong has not uploaded them yet. If you did something video or graphics related you might want to update the graphics drivers. Yours is from 2017 and pretty much old stuff. But it doesn't look like a graphics crash.

19.7.5 is available here:
https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics ... on-r5-m430

R5 cards are still supported. Didn't look up your pci id. Crash just said R4/R5.

Thanks for the feedback.

I will try again later, check the Windows setting and the setting in your reply to my post in m.test.

I wasn't doing anything with video or graphics. Might update the driver.

This was a test profile in a new custom installation in my Test folder in my test user account. Maybe I need to just install it in the default location. I'll also try that.

Microsoft makes it harder in every Windows version to get rid of the default. They want to favor their own browsers and apps.

The default can be set here:

I think if no default is set you run into the error you described.

For the crash I think it is safe to say that it is Bug 857043. I have a hunch what might fix it. If anyone can reproduce it I can try to fix it for 2.53. TB is not affected because the got rid of the RDF code a long time ago. Something which we need to do for 2.57 too.

Location, location, location does matter for some things, but not for this.
Fire 750, bring back 250.

Well, I didn't reinstall and tried again with a new test profile. This time creating the newsgroup account first and everything worked as expected.

Resolved the bug report as WFM.
