So far, so good. All my old add-ons are working, media are playing. If some specific test is required then let us know.
Remove about plugins from help menu [...]
It's still available at "about:about" and "about:support". Just saying...

Mostly a stability release. Much stuff under the hood but not much for compatibility.

    Cheers !! 8-)

Hmm this is from the Crash Reporter itself. Any chance you can reproduce it. Just browsed DeviantArt a bit with latest prerelease but no dice.

Which Linux distro and version? I assume a crashdump was not written?

Btw. you user agent looks odd: Gecko/20220824 SeaMonkey/2.53.14

Intentional?

  • It is from .xsession-errors

I will try to provoke a crash, by visiting the same pages, in the next hours ...
frg wrote:... Which Linux distro and version?
  • SparkyLinux 7 (debian testing 'Bookworm')

  • Yes, it's intentional.
I just changed the date to the Build identifier: 20220824195806. As I have always done.

Maybe start from a shell and see if it prints something before it dies. Maybe try the latest 2.53.15b1 pre too from https://www.wg9s.com/comm-253/

Still profile compatible and up downgrade should be painless at this point in time.

  • Image The same situation, with a message almost identical to those previously mentioned:

  • With version 2.53.15b1 pre (Build identifier: 20220907210003) practically the same thing happens.
It takes a little longer, but it ends with a crash after searching and viewing several images on DeviantArt. Image

    ExceptionHandler::GenerateDump cloned child 104868
ExceptionHandler::SendContinueSignalToChild sent continue signal to child

Unexpected Crash, searching and viewing some images on DeviantArt
Any particular page, image?
Just browsing through the list of images, or do you need to open a specific page with the image?

RAM, CPU usage?

Does it happen in Safe Mode?

Are you logged in to DA?
Fire 750, bring back 250.

Tested the same version under Linux Mint Cinnamon 20.3 (VirtualBox 6.1.38) and it works correct. Try new profile with all default settings, for test. If it will happen again then it must be related to your distro. Or something...

I landed about 400 backports for media and images in the last 2 days so maybe test 2.53.15b1 pre again. I also suspect it might be something distro specific but you never know.

Maybe someone can test a bit more on real Linux hardware. I am a bit out if time lately so not sure if I will manage this weekend. As like TPR75 no crash in a Cent OS 7 Virtualbox vm.

PS I screwed around in deviantart via win10 (in case it wasn't just a linux thing) and couldn't crash it no matter how hard I tried.
