Hackers Have Successfully Hidden Malware In Popular PC Cleanup Tool

CBSPhilly September 19, 2017

A computer program used to help your PC run faster has reportedly become the latest victim of hackers looking to breach the security of millions of its users.

CCleaner, the computer-optimizing tool made by software company Piriform, was successfully infected by malware, according to security firm Cisco Talos. The malware reportedly tried to connect to unregistered websites in order to remotely download even more harmful programs to users’ computers.

Still on the 5.32.6129, after reading about comments of them being taken over by that other company, switched back to using EasyCleaner by ToniArts.

I jumped ship from the Mozilla platform when bugzilla was hacked. (;-))

(Does anyone think that Mozilla [& any other software company worth their weight] is once again reviewing their systems to help ensure they don't become the next CCleaner.)
