How to download webpage embedded videos mp4

Post by victor6799 »

I'm trying to download a video using Video DownloadHelper addon from the following website https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/david-fingo ... -1.1590143 but it only downloads a small portion of the entire video at a time. IS there a way to download the entire stream all at once similarly to the way a YouTube video can be downloaded for free online.

Hi,
I'm not an expert on Downloaders, but check the extensions site for a variety of them.
> https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... =extension

I found a few that may be more suitable than VDH.
1/. > https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... ent=search
2/. > https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... ent=search
3/. > https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... ent=search

Best to read the REVIEWS on each & try each.
You can always un-install if not suitable.

Apparently, that site has broken up all the videos to stop any from D/L'ing completely.
Checking your site via > "Tools > Page Info > Media", all the video files listed are GREYED OUT & not available for D/L.
I receive the same results with VDH....Lot of individual files of varying sizes.

Someone may have more/better info.

Thank you for the reply. I installed and tried all three extensions (one at a time) but they all (including Video DownloadHelper) show only small sized downloadable files instead of a single large size download. Even after downloading these small size files none of them are playable in WMP or VLC. I've decided to try out video capture software...I think this is the way to go.

BUT...
Did you try this...?

Do you already have a screen capture type program?

Thank again for the help. Yes I tried all three add-ons available from the posted three links but they all give the same result as Video DownloadHelper. Many downloadable small sized video (mp4) files. None of them are playable in WMP or VLC.

FWIW, the file (headers) show "stypiso6 ... iso6dash".
I'd suspect you could download all the pieces (that can be done), & convert/mux them into a single meaningful file.
(Offhand, not sure how to do the convert/mux part.)
Maybe there is a .m3u, .ts, or similar type of file that you can find with Browser Console (or similar), that would then allow a .mp4 instead of "dash"?

You can merge/connect videos together using the free program Audacity. Google search should bring it up easily enough (not sure what the rules are on links to third party progs so playing it safe).

No probs. Rich.

For victor6799...
If you manage to D/L all the necessary files & require a free video merge/does it all program,
try this one > https://www.any-video-converter.com/pro ... ideo_free/#
I've used it for many years & recommend it.
(NB: To merge the videos after loading them, select the "paper looking" (Show Main Menu) icon (left of the Gear/Options icon) at the top right of the Title Bar & select EDIT > MERGE. Make sure you set the OUTPUT folder as well.)

The problem is, is that the individual piece that (FlashGot - not for FF) can see are not directly playable.
So MUXing them together won't work.

Maybe there is a .m3u, .ts, or similar type of file that you can find with Browser Console
.mpd.

Site uses a ".mpd" file to ... to do whatever a .mpd file does ;-).
Anyhow, it looks something like:

Presumably available at different bitrates & whatnot...
Anyhow, you can use that .mpd, throwing it into a "downloader" that knows how to handle it, & it will (probably) download something.

"Downloader".
youtube-dl will do it, manually.
I'd think ? that there would exist FF extensions to handle it too?
Maybe not? Haven't been there in ages.

"Something".
Now, what a particular .mpd relates to (in particular on a page like that where there could be any number of video feeds), no idea. So it could be a bit of a crap shoot.

Anyhow, it can be had.

Also with the .mpd you can open that "link" in (some) media players & it can play the video - outside of any browser. https://postimg.cc/tnNqtLYR

Thanks for the help. But the thing is that there are quite a number of these small sized video files (.mp4) maybe 10-15 of them and this website posts one of these videos with market predictions every day. So I've got a lot of downloading and converting to do.

Appreciate the reply.

Did you read my post re; AUDACITY?

quote="LIMPET235"]charscot,
Thanks for the suggestion but AUDACITY only does audio.....NOT video.[/quote]

It will not touch a video file.
All it will do, is to let you edit the audio track in the video so you can add your own sound track/voice whatever to the video.

It's not suitable for your usage.
