in my experience, they say "point" (without the decimal bit, which wouldn't make sense anyway when you have two or more of them anyway)

I took that as deft humor, since briansmith was claiming that people read the name as "Firefox zero dot nine dot three," which makes about as much sense as saying they read it as "Firefox zero decimal point nine decimal point three."

I think you're right, incidentally; I myself read it as "Firefox point nine point three," or even just "Firefox point nine three."

By the way, are there any plans to prettify update.mozilla.org? I notice it looks a little better now since someone has softened the colors, but the big bold text is still nasty (look at the non-bolded FAQ section for comparison), and parts of the layout are cluttered up on my 800x600 screen. And of course there's still no theme previews (whosever problem that is), etc.

Actually, sometimes people DO say "decimal point", though "period" is more the norm.

Firefox on Linux problem

Post by int2str »

Here's a screenshot of the mozilla.org front page viewed in Firefox on Linux. The margins (or padding) are messed up, causing the colored top areas to stretch across the full window. It works find in Konqueror.

Wolf assures us it won't look like that for Firefox 1.0 (in some bugzilla bug which I'm to lazy to find).

I like the nice clean look and I think the graphics are great! Go for it!
