Monk:

i think the source of the confusion stems from the fact that up till not too long ago, firebird didnt really have a clear identity of its own. (i'm not talking about name or logo, but rather.. where does it stand in the mozilla family... )

now, its identity is getting clearer: firebird will eventually become THE mozilla browser.

This makes it easier to come up with consistent logos that would match/reinforce a specifc image the developpers want mozilla to have. an image that should be reflected through th website, the logos, the icons, the main theme, etc...

i believe a good logo is not justa cute image using the latest visual effect fad (nowadays its the see-thru glass look) but rather a series of visual reinforcements that give the product/site a unique look.

I quickly made a 16x16 windows icon from the picture given by MoNkaholic.

Photoshop, fireworks, the gimp (free) and imageready have export functions capable of doing this.

I've never seen the Camino icon before, it's gorgeous... perhaps a little bit lacking in personality, but the quality of the image is superb.

Made a fairly simple icon concept (see my avatar); I took the Camino globe and added some flames.. originally the idea was to have an "OZ" in the picture also, so that including the flames it would spell "MOZ," but I like how it looks at the moment. I also had similar ideas to go with Thunderbird and Sunbird, but those I haven't tried yet.

Edit: Another version... M for Mozilla :)

lost icons

Post by mkcillip »

Would you be willing to put these icons back online for a couple days? I remembered having come across them once a month or so ago, and I recently spent awhile looking for them again (I'd like for my parents to have a well-made IE-style icon to click on). When I finally found them only on this website, I was sad to see they were offline.

Does anyone have them mirrored somewhere?

Interesting design, a few too many non transparent artefacts that need to be cleaned though (plus make it PNG8 ;))

Clever usage of the Mozilla M there. If you just clean the edges that will look very smart.
