Messed around with it some more.. it's in PNG now, and it should look cleaner (can't tell because I'm using *gasp* IE atm and it's a black square). I've never used PNG before and don't know what the different filters do, so I left it unfiltered and had to shrink it to get it under 10k.

Edit: Ugh. I hate the dirty orange edging.. it still looks bad even though I thinned them down.

Made some more drastic changes, being frustrated with the dim color. Removed most of the border, too. I also played with the filters a bit and after finding the best-compressing ones, chose "adaptive" from them on a whim.

Edit: Ahh, now *that* looks good. Whoo!

Bug 217887 - Default Icons need to be replaced with a aesthetically pleasing set.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Firebird
2. Run
3. Look at Icons
4. Run away

Amazing. Using the red one for firebird and the blue one for thunderbird!

edit: The blue one looks cool as a wall paper.

These icons look great large but are hopelessly indistinct when they are scaled down to any normal icon size. They aren't really suitable.

lynchknot is working on that and has made good progress on the scaling. Anyway these look no worse than the fire icon.

Yeah you're right, they don't scale well. At 64*64 the blue one looks ok and with the red one the bird is a bit obscured, any smaller and they're both horrid (lose too much detail). You couldn't put them in the window bar for example.

The other one I really liked is the F icon with the world, wish whoever made it would make a Thunderbird one. It's nice, stylish and does scale well. Not a fan of the shiny lizards though.
