As I mentioned & you saw, it seems to have a few bugs.
Have you tried what Wendy suggested in that thread re; IE & Firefox?

If you mean to uninstall IE8 and Firefox. No I haven't. I'm gonna find another webpage screenshot program and see. Thanks anyways.

I don't think she mentioned un-installing IE8, just the Fireshot extension.
[q]
1) Uninstall Fireshot for Internet Explorer - very important! (Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs) - do not uninstall from anywhere else
2) Close all Internet Explorer windows.
3) Install/Run Firefox.
4) Install the Fireshot version for Firefox.
5) Restart Firefox.
a) If this is the first time you've installed for Firefox, it'll ask if you want to integrate with Internet Explorer, click Yes.
b) If the option does not popup after restarting Firefox, click on the down arrow next to the Fireshot Icon and click "Integrate with Internet Explorer". (this is the option I chose)
6) Open an Internet Explorer window, and Fireshot should be installed and working. - the first time I opened IE it didn't work so I followed 5b again then step 6 worked and I was able to choose to use the free version of Fireshot in IE
[/q]

The Addons site does have a few that are similar.
Try these extensions...
"Save Image in Folder",

and "Screen Grab",

& this is very handy...

I'd just un-install it & try one of the linked ones.

Good luck. ;)

Hi everybody,

I also had the problem, that—after upgrading to “Fireshot pro”—I was not able to return to the free version from addons.mozilla.org (AMO version).

I unsuccessfully tried
  • deleting registry keys for “fireshot”, “screenshot”, or “Screenshot Studio for Firefox”
  • changing “fireshot.” settings in Firefox' “about:config” page. Especially setting fireshot.isProMode to false only helped until I actually used Fireshot, which made it revert to Pro mode. Even manually deleting all these “fireshot.” settings in file “prefs.js” did not help, as
  • uninstalling and reinstalling the Fireshot add-on did not help a bit, either.

But I discovered, that Firefox' profile folder “%appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\” (followed by another subfolder “???.default”) also contains a file “fs_fx_settings.ini”!

Sidenote: These seems to contain the settings for “Screenshot Studio for Firefox” which used to be in the Registry.

Deleting (or renaming, if you are overcautious) “fs_fx_settings.ini” solved the problem at last.

Actually, it might also work to only change the setting “chkProMode=1” to “chkProMode=0” within this file (it is text format). But I didn't check that ... and this file is re-generated without problems anyway.

So, in short:
  • Remove Fireshot add-on from Firefox
  • Close Firefox
  • In Windows Explorer go to “%appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\”, and into the “???.default” subfolder
  • Delete file “fs_fx_settings.ini”
  • Restart Firefox, reinstall Fireshot AMO version
  • Be happy!

Kind regards,
