That one I have not installed in the new set (see the list).

However, I do have the Full Screen context 0.1
which puts "Full Screen" in the right-click menu.
I've been using that to enable Full Screen as well as
using F11.

I'll remove that and see what happens.

Ok, well I uninstalled Full Screen Context and
restarted FF.

The only way I can now enable Full Screen is F11.

Unfortunately, clicking on F11 gives exactly the same
double image effect.

For the time being I'll leave Full Screen Context uninstalled.

I'm not gonna read through and figure out if anyone's mentioned this, but I had a similar problem using an older version of the Auto-hide extension.
My guess is if you have installed it before, you might have some left over entries in about:config you could delete (left-click to select, right-click -> reset, restart).

You might even try clearing entries from all your previous extensions.

Thanks for your suggestion shakey_snake.
Exactly what you did is what I hope for, someone that has
had a similar experience and can point right to the offending
item.

However, this is a newly formatted FF 1.0.1 and all the Extensions are what
I've installed over the past day or so and have not included the
Auto-hide extension.
I don't see anything with that name in the about:config Preferences
and in checking the list all I see are the recent items I've added.

Keep thinking though.

Whoa!! Just a minute folks!!! \:D/

Stay tuned for a major announcement.

But first, take a look at this....

Image

Image

May I draw your attention to the status bar(s) on this Test Profile
I created in the Profile Manager.
EDIT: I just added the second image showing the top of FF.
Do my eyes deceive me or is that a double image the same as
I've been experiencing on my regular FF?

My plan was to add Extensions...one by one and see if I could come
across the offender.

I installed one (1) Extension.

Any bets on which one? :-k

Well, I've got good news and I've got bad news...

Good news....
The double image is NOT the result of ANY extension.
The one (1) Extension I installed on the Test Profile was
Tabbrowser Extensions (TBE)

Bad news..,.
I went back to the Test Profile, removed TBE and restarted
Firefox. It opened in a normal state but, upon activating F11
the double image appeared.
There were NO extensions installed.

Uh Oh! Could it possibly be anything other than my
Video Card?

Yes. It is TBE.

Was the problem there before you installed TBE? If the problem exists after you uninstalled TBE, but didn't exist before you installed it, then TBE is the problem.

Ok, here's what I just finished doing, in this order:

1) Exited my present FF.
Checked Task Manager to be sure it was fully closed.
Went to PM and created a brand new Profile "Test Profile NO TBE".

2) Opened the new Profile.

3) Clicked on F11 - No double image - clicked a few more times
no double image.

4) I clicked on X and closed the test FF.

5) (and this could be important)...I then, using my Desktop FF Icon,
restarted Test Profile NO TBE and after it opened...
and the first time I hit F11...there was the double image.
It continued to appear with each click of F11.
Remember, this was a virgin FF...nothing added.

Go figger!

TBE changes/replaces core Ff files on it's install.
try reinstalling the Fox, and then using a brand spankin new profile.

Are you sure, or is this documentation wrong?

Note also that what I wrote was partly wrong. According to the documentation, safe mode does not disable plugins.

Hey everyone,

It looks as though I can report that the double image has been solved.

Within this FF Support Forum thread I started on another subject...
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=234488

...was the suggestion by RPGMaker35 to switch from (Display Property) Windows XP to Windows Classic.

Seems like it has resolved the issue.
It's been about 4 hours and I cannot even force the double image to appear either by F11 or using the Full Screen Context Extension.

During the switch and up till now I have had TBE installed.

I don't know the technical reason that this could have occurred, just happy that things are back to normal.

Once again, thanks to everyone who showed an interest in my problem to take the time to post with their suggestions.

I'm trying not to celebrate too soon but, after 4 hours there is a level of confidence that I'll be seeing no more double images unless..OMG!...
I should return to the Windows XP Display.

It does leave the unanswered question as to exactly what happened and maybe sometime in the future it will find an answer.

Even the guy who created TBE advises you not to use his extension. This is what he has to say on his own website.
