I know it's a bit cliche, but how about Ripley? Lean and mean!

What about "Xenophanes"? :) This greek philosopher's name just came to my mind...

I think this hasn't been suggested yet: Mariner. In the tradition of the good old Navigator, but a totally different word.

Suggesting Prometheus

Post by boris31416 »

In this page :

http://www.desy.de/gna/interpedia/greek ... Prometheus

you find the following sentence :

« He gave mankind a number of gifts including fire. »

I find this fire stolen from Gods and given to the Humans is a powerfull symbol too. Like the Phoenix.

But many other links exist. As many other names too...

Best regards,

Boris.

Different species of Gecko:

Phelsuma

Tokay

Coleonyx

Or how about "TheBrowser", since it is "the" one to use.
The only substitute for good manners is fast reflexes.

New name

Post by iKe »

Hi I haven´t been able to read all the messages, but just wanted to give some ideas;
I kinda liked the mozilla/browser name so here are my suggestions:
Mozilla Internet Browser
Mozilla Web Browser
Mozilla Internet Navigator
Mozilla Web Navigator
and similars, you get the idea, then you could just call it MIB, MWB MWN MIN or whatever.

Why not :

Ulysse Browser

ULYSSE, or ULIS or ULYS...

Ulysse is this famous mythical navigator (Homere books), so we stay in myths names, and there is a link between what the soft is designed for and what the name suggests.

Maybe U.L.I.S.S. for: _U_n_L_imited and _I_ndependant _S_urfing _S_oftware :)

I think Exodus would be a good name because it means mass migration.

My last suggestion was Mariner, which was also the name for a line of spacecrafts, so here's another one making a good name that stands for the goals of the Phoenix project: Pioneer.

How about "Felix"?

Post by Autark »

I'm surprised that nobody, as far as I can see, has proposed the name Felix. I haven't investigated the trademark situation, but apart from that, Felix has the following strong points:

1. It is pronounced similar to Phoenix, but not too similar.
2. It means 'happy', in Latin.
3. It's short and not too clever.

Or maybe I'm just missing something obvious ...
