A name is a arbitrary word (or set of words) by which an entity is designated and distinguished from others. If you choose GO as the name for a browser, GO becomes a name.

But even if you don't make this choice, since when "go" is only an adjective?

Si if Phoenix wants to be the IE Killer, it should be called IE Killa' => Iakela => "Akela" (which happens to be the King of the wolves in the Jungle Book)

AKELA is funny but i like it

GO

BRUNCH
BLOODY MARY, MANHATTAN
ZOOPHYLLIA
ROSEBUD
CLINT EASTWOOD
or what ever they like to call it but please
let the 0.6 out .

Does anybody care of non-English users? Surfzilla is awkward. AMD called its CPU Duron! "Durak" is a "fool" in Russian. I don't mention the Mitsubishi Pajero ([Pahero]). Please make the new name easy and pleasant to read in all langauges, like "Phoenix".

No, we don't care about non-American users. God bless the USA!

*removes tounge from cheek*

Honestly, whatever happens it's the name we'll be stuck with for revs and revs to come, and there's not much we can do about it.

As a side note, the Mistubishi Pajero isn't an American name, it's Spanish.
trust me, i absolutely think i know what i'm positively doing.

if Akela is a king in jungle book, there'd be Disney to ask, first. a company somewhat bigger than the one causing this thread.

so what about "Internet Navigator" ?

well, i prefer GO, too.

and as for the Pajero-thing: all I can say is "Pinto" is a No Go, too. ;)

Yeah, Internet Navigator shouldn't raise any trademark issues...

I believe Go is a verb, not an adjective. Verbs are good, because they indicate action. Flash is also a verb (and a noun too, okay) and is a very effective branding tool.

Most of the names of characters in Disney's Jungle Book come from hindi words, for example, baloo roughly sounds like bhaaloo, which means bear (surprise surprise).

Akela in hindi means "alone" - I can't remember if the lion is shown to be alone in the Jungle Book...

"Disney's" Jungle Book comes from Kipling's Jungle Book, and the use of Hindi words in a Kipling story would hardly be surprising.

it's really cool stuff, who cares if in real life it's toxic, it sounds good, which is really all that matters for a name

I know that Pajero is Spanish. That's why it's reading "Pahero" in its native language and causes bad assossiations in Russian (her is smth between man's legs and "herovo" is a synonim to "bad"). Do you want to choose some name that 150 millions people would think it's a "bad" browser?

Not sure if you're being facetious or not, but Surf is a good suggestion. It has the advantage , like Flash, of also being a noun: the surf: waves on the beach. That makes it better suited as a name. I think I maybe like that better than "Go" even.

Surf.

Connotations of cool, hanging out.
Captures the "ocean" reference of "navigator" and similar names.
Image of raw, natural power.
Actually describes what it does.
Is short.
Multi-language friendly.
Memorable
Easy to design logos etc.

It would also be appropriate if David chose the name; his help site is an amazing contribution to the Px community. Provided he actually likes that name.
