I have several Linux distros running in virtual machines in Virtualbox on Windows 7.
My question is - I want to copy my settings from Firefox in Windows to Firefox in the virtual machines - would Firefox Sync be OK or should I copy the Firefox profile over from Windows?
Also I want to move to a physical computer with Linux installed in the future - would the procedure be the same?

Re: Copying settings to Firefox in Linux virtual machines
Do not try and copy all settings and items from Windows OS to Linux OS.
It's difficult and complicated and rarely works the way you want it to.
Bookmarks are OK but the rest should be new in the Linux OS including the install of extensions.
If setting a stand alone, non-virtual Linux OS on a computer it should come with a Firefox version which is up tp date but IMO I would build anew except for some bookmarks.
Sync may help for some items but again you might have to pick and choose to keep from confusions.
There are those who might recommend copying but take all comments with a grain of salt, including mine.

Doesn't matter what you say, it's wrong for a toaster to walk around the house and talk to you
