Firefox 53.0.2 on Windows 8 64-bit says "Connecting..." only

When I open my Firefox 53.0.2 browser, it says "Connecting..." at the top while loading the page, but nothing ever comes up. It's not a virus, firewall, or plugin issue. I've tried malware scans, reinstalling the application, and putting the window in "Safe Mode" and nothing worked. The other browsers are working fine, it's just Firefox for some reason that isn't working. Norton is downloaded on my computer, I don't know if that makes a difference, and I've done a ton of troubleshooting already. I have Windows 8 installed.

Do you mean you tried starting Firefox in Mozilla Safe Mode or that you started Windows in Safe Mode?
Was this an existing installation of Firefox that you updated to version 53.0.2 or was it a new installation?
Why do you say it's not a Firewall issue? Is it Norton Firewall that you have or something else?

As a test, create a new, clean Profile & see ...

Are you using a proxy?
