Backups beyond FF 57
If there is no easy way to back it up-what good is it? No problem with the present system.
Software that works with the present system will not work with the new one. We shall see how it goes.

Re: Backups beyond FF 57
I make backups by manually copying Firefox profile folder. I don't understand why people use special utilities in order to back up FF data.
Sorry for my poor English.

@GHM113 - at least special tools can do more - in case of aomei backup* you can backup single files/folder or the whole system as an image. for a quick backup any packager or copy/paste will do sure. when using winrar or 7zip you can use a CMD/BATch to backup the whole folder %appdata%\mozilla\ and/or %localappdata%\mozilla\
* a sytem backupper program is highly recommended, no matter if aomei, acronis, macrium or similar.

Your message shows that you are using Windows 10 as your OS. Windows 10 has a 'Backup' program built in.

Any backup that worked before version 57 should work with version 57 and later. That's not including MozBackup which may or may not work with 57 but appears to be EOL regardless.

system restore or the windows time machine (forgot the correct term)!?Windows 10 has a 'Backup' program built in.
i dont rely on that crap - i urgent cases it wont help. in case of a compromised system its worthless.
backups should be stored external in a secure container format. external because only when necessary because of ransomware.

There is a complete Backup Program included in Windows 10. Not the system backup. That is a separate program. Which I don't use.
And there is a copy/paste backup feature that has always been there.
And a copy/paste feature that will let the user send the copy to a list of devices.
There are also several command line methods for those that prefer. Robocopy is nice.

"Windows 10's File History backup feature" - in german: Dateiversionsverlauf
present since windows 8.
or you speak about "sdclt.exe" (since windows 7)

file history...
C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\FileHistory\Configuration
(%localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows\FileHistory\Configuration)
to save settings, parent folder maybe contains the backups - i dont use it.

There is a File History feature in the Backup Program.
You can also right click on the profile folder and select copy then paste. Or Copy and send to 'someplace/other device".
If you are only going to backup a Firefox profile? I use robocopy since it only updates/writes/replaces the changed files and leaves the unchanged as is.
robocopy <source> <destination>
robocopy <path to firefox profile folder> <path to destination folder>
Or? You can use OneDrive which can keep an 'up to the moment' updated copy.
None of which has anything to do with a soon to be EOL Firefox extension.

Re: Backups beyond FF 57
There are lots of back up programs out there. I use Macrium Reflect to back up the whole HD every few weeks, but nightly I use Karen's Replicator to back up just my FF and TB profiles.

On linux, rsync and/or dd make good backup programs as well (although you have to be careful with "data destroyer" dd)
