Just updated to the latest version of Firefox 55 from within Firefox & it didn't install automatically the 64 bit version even though I'm running 16GB of ram on Windows 7 x64. I downloaded the latest installer manually & that installed the 64 bit version. So now I have 2 versions of Firefox installed. I should be able to uninstall one version without affecting the other am I correct?
Also the only reason I'm asking this question is because according to the change log it's supposed to install the 64 bit automatically.
"Firefox for Windows 64-bit is now installed by default on 64-bit systems with at least 2GB of RAM"
No Automatic Installation of Firefox 64 bit with Firefox 55

Re: No Automatic Installation of Firefox 64 bit with Firefox
Short version:
For Firefox 55 any Windows users who download the small stub installer from mozilla.org (and not full setup) will have 64-bit as default during install. It is as of Firefox 56.0 that Mozilla plans to give 64-bit updates to Windows users still using 32-bit unless they have less than 2GB of Ram (well actually 1800 MB). These updates will not affect those using ESR channels.
