Re: Mozilla plans to collect browsing data unless opted out.
Could someone or you please clarify the "no option to disable" - in other words, if this thread topic is something different than previously posted way to opt out through a user.js file,
which goes into Profile's root folder: [not CHROME]
/* Disable Telemetry */
user_pref("datareporting.healthreport.service.enabled", false);
user_pref("datareporting.policy.dataSubmissionEnabled", false);
user_pref("datareporting.policy.dataSubmissionEnabled.v2", false);
user_pref("toolkit.telemetry.archive.enabled", false);
user_pref("toolkit.telemetry.enabled", false);
user_pref("toolkit.telemetry.unified", false);
which goes into Profile's root folder: [not CHROME]
/* Disable Telemetry */
user_pref("datareporting.healthreport.service.enabled", false);
user_pref("datareporting.policy.dataSubmissionEnabled", false);
user_pref("datareporting.policy.dataSubmissionEnabled.v2", false);

user_pref("toolkit.telemetry.unified", false);

Never mind: I just noticed c627627 posted the info already.
EDIT: Although, the settings he/she mentioned can be found in about:config so no need of a user.js

Perhaps you should use a different browser, provided by someone else, that does not spy on you? And perhaps also go to different web sites so you don't leave a trail?
Oh. And don' forget to get another "tin foil hat" to protect your thoughts from being scanned by The Illuminati ?
Can't be too careful.

No. The world.
Do you shop in a store? They know, more or less, who you are and what you buy. Buy gas? They know where you are and where you go. And more.
The Internet? They have to know who you are and where you are in order to reply to you and to send you information that you ask for. Think Google. Same as a letter sent to and reply to addresses or a phone call with a call from and a call to number.
Now. If you are really worried about Mozilla disable it. And Google. And your ISP. And?
BTW. Don't do p0rn. They really harvest your information.
Have a great day.

Ridiculing foilers really is a very 2005 type thing to do, as the point is they were right and we were wrong.
Now, I grant you, they foil about everything but even a stopped clock is right twice a day and they were right about this one.
Now, I could expand on all this and write a long post on it all, but you guys have now all had 12 years+ to witness any right to any semblance of privacy on the Internet, or indeed in real life, being constantly eroded on a daily basis. So, if you ain't caught on to the reality yet then even one good long post from me sure ain't going to remove your head out of the sand.

Thanks for the info. I know that I changed it. I hope that it sticks. And I hope that those who can not sleep because of this can rest easily now.
What a bunch of c*ap.
