First uninstall Adobe Flash, most videos will still play now using html5 and Flash used to be a huge memory waster. You can always install it again if you need it.

If you compare Firefox with Chrome or Edge you will typically find that Firefox uses the least of any of them since Firefox does not use a process for each tab. However, newer versions of Firefox are using more processes intentionally to improve performance, so future firefox will use more memory. Firefox 57 feels lightning fast compared to version 52. You can reduce memory usage in Firefox sometimes by using an adblocker like Ublock Origin. When Firefox 57 disables your old style extensions, if you had any that had memory leak flaws you may see that reduce memory usage. If 1 gig of memory seems like a problem for your computer you may want to try to either upgrade your memory or replace your computer.

i am not sure if the memory usage of flash is shown as part of firefox, its a complete other exe file.

go about:memory and perform measure and post back the result, then we could see.

and provide information please (text, not raw)

485937 kbs?
That's also a rather meaningless number without context. How may windows and how many tabs are open and what sites are being viewed in them in Firefox? Multiple videos running at the same time on a site will quickly run up memory usage.
