I don't have a fix but I do have this history... I tried in Firefox... no go... tried in my clean Firefox test profile... no go ... then I started up my IE ....no go. And... my Avast stated that it blocked 'something' due to a server cert. being revoked. Also, it tries to run with Brightcove player. Like I said... no fix here... just more info for you.

Does not play here either, works in Chrome - hard to say if the site is not coding for Firefox, or if its Firefox.

EDIT: looking at 'page info', the Media Tab - I don't find any 'video' files there, which seems strange....not sure the video, either one of them on the page, is being sent from the server.

Also, there is a scrolling issue on the page in that if you scroll down to the area of the 2nd video on the page it suddenly jumps back up to the top
There is an error in Browser console about that and I'm leaning towards it being an ESPN issue more than Firefox.

EDIT: IE11 throws an 'expired cert' error when trying to play vids on ESPN< Edge does like firefox, nothing... So who knows what 'Chrome is doing to allow that to play, but its a bit concerning that Chrome is allowing potential 'bad' stuff to play.

1st... I don't get on Twitter... can't help you there. And since it sounds like you visit ESPN 'via' Twitter... I suggest that you restart Firefox into safe-mode and then give it a try. And... I feel that you've been around the block lots of times around here... and by now, Safe-mode testing should be your first test before posting a problem... and if stuff then works in safe-mode you then know what steps to take... but if stuff still doesn't work... post ALL the details here.... just saying :-"

Check Error Console & see if it has any clues.
Might be some sort of "cross domain" block or something like that?

It seems to be when a twitter video is embedded in another website. It wont allow you to play it unless you click on the twitter icon. It will then open up in twitter.com and the video will play. Does anyone know why this occurs and the cause of it?

I just took a look at ESPN and videos on the front page are playing fine here now where the other day when the OP first posted they would not. I suspect they have fixed their issue.

Code: Select all

Content Security Policy: The page’s settings blocked the loading of a resource at self
Content Security Policy is blocking the load of certain resources at the request of the webpage. ESPN has no headers related to Twitter regarding CSP, so by default Twitter's headers are most likely restricting the load of that resource. It was mentioned elsewhere that Chrome doesn't properly respect the CSP header, so it works in that browser. I doubt that IE even has that functionality considering its no longer developed.

If ESPN adds the Twitter CSP allowance, that issue goes away for ESPN.
