Playing same Youtube Video in 480p on same Hardware with a fresh Windows and Firefox Installation.
Firefox 52.5.3 on XP has 2% CPU Usage
Firefox 57.0.4 on Win10 has 25% CPU Usage
Playing Soundcloud:
Firefox 52.5.3 on XP has 5% CPU Usage
Firefox 57.0.4 on Win10 has 20% CPU Usage
So WTF is wrong with "modern" operating systems?

FF 57.0.4 has been updated to address the Meltdown/Spectre vulnerabilities. FF52.5.3 has not.
Reports elsewhere in the media suggest the patch may reduce performance on some systems.

Because SharedArrayBuffer is already disabled in Fx 52 ESR.Reflective wrote:FF52.5.3 has not.

Depending on how the final patched for the Intel CPU kernel bug vulnerability are implemented the AMD CPU's may suffer a performance hit as collateral damage. It was requested for Linux kernel to make an exception for AMD cpu's since they are not vulnerable to meltdown.

It also could be due to H.264 Hardware Acceleration being bugged in Firefox on Windows 10.

Wavelab 6 xp=13%, win10=30%.
360p 1-5% CPU usage
1080p 9-20% CPU usage

(Heh.
Your i5 is about 4x my e4300. Maybe that's why I can't duplicate similar results [on XP].
But... my i5-3570k (with on chip graphics) has > "cpu mark" then your 2390T, yet I still use more CPU [my i5 is on Win7] then you.
