Will password API be written and made available, if so when?

For years, I have been using an add on which allows me to export and import my FF passwords and it was murdered (like several other things) by FF 57.

Will the password APIs ever be released so that the author can update the add on? If so, when?

I believe the developers are still doing the security review of the logins API.
