I have been a FF user for a long time, and have used several other Mozilla products like SeaMonkey, and I used to use the lightning calendar.
I have tried in many ways to get along with the new Quantum. It's supposed to be better.
But I have to say I absolutely hate it.
I have never been a Chrome fan, but it looks like I'll be migrating away from FF soon.
I know most of the changes are behind the scenes, but it's the forward facing stuff that has me so annoyed.
Prior to 58 I had a start page of 20 or "tiles" of my most frequently used, and visited sites. Mainly various gmail, and clould services.
I'd open a new tab, and there'd be all of my needs.
The new FF now fills a start page with adds, and it's really hard to get new content onto the mini tiles. I used to drag a bookmark into a tile, and happy tile.
I tried getting an add-on to recreate the old start page but it doesn't show the website icons, it's all just blank tiles.
On top of the crappy start page, quantum killed my most used add-on which was Tab-mix plus. That was a powerful tab utility tool.
So thanks Mozilla for taking what once was one of my favorite pieces of software and ruining it.
I'm sure there's lots of people that love the new Quantum, but I am not.
Brave looks interesting, and I'll test it for awhile. If I'm going to have to start all over anyway it might as well be on a new platform.

The only part of this that surprises me is that you seem to be surprised by all this.Mick-e wrote:I have tried in many ways to get along with the new Quantum. It's supposed to be better.

The direction was pretty clear to me when I wrote this 4 years ago - http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... #p13492625
All that you're saying here now is that you were more tolerant of all this than I was. But, anyway, it's only an Internet browser program, so I don't think we really need the 'Goodbye, Cruel World ' stuff about it from you now.

It's a shell of it's former self. I donated regularly too.
Anyway. I installed Brave.
I like it so far. I'm done with FF until I hear it sucks less.
