Login Name is sticky in Fox memory

Post by bawldiggle »

Login -> Login Name
How do I remove a saved login "Name" from legacy Firefox ESR 52.2.0 (64-bit)

When I open a bookmark to my bank Firefox has remembered my login "name" (but not my password)
In Options -> Security -> Logins -> Saved Logins is empty (?)

How do I remove all details for any login and prevent any further memorized login details for some accounts
I don't recall an alert to "Do I want to save this login details" ?

MozillaZine forum details are "preserved", but I certainly do not want my banking details preserved.

What I find odd, is the bank password is not "preserved" but somehow Fox ESR 52.2.0 knows my login name.
In Options -> Security -> Logins (options) are both disabled and Saved Logins list is empty

Would appreciate any help, thank you in advance :)

current and latest vulnerable firefox esr 52 is 52.9 - look into your palemoon - which is more updato date than your 52esr.

for the issue - for any firefox - select it in the form box and press DEL

Might also try clearing your bank cookies (if the name isn't coming from Form Fill).
Fire 750, bring back 250.

@ Brummelchen
Thank you for your response :)
current and latest vulnerable firefox esr 52 is 52.9
I want to use my favorite AMO legacy extensions, many/most of which do not "play" with current Fox.
Australis nor web-extensions thrill me
And I think 52.9 ESR is in the mire of Australis etc, I am not an expert of versions.
-----
EDIT
Just noticed my signature area has 52.9 (which I no longer have, nor can I correct that to ESR 52.2
Looks like Mozillazine spy on my PC, and then get it wrong or is std 52.9 = esr 52.2 ?

for the issue - for any firefox - select it in the form box and press DEL
Tried selecting the partial + full names -> "DEL"
rebooted ESR Fox, name is still remembered ](*,)

At 73 yrs, I am old dog and have witnessed so many new tricks in life that faded into irrelevance.
With a clone of my PC on the ready, if things go pear shaped, it takes about 5 mins to put back a clean setup
I am not consumed by "be afraid, be very afraid" in these sad days of insane politics

I was dedicated Fox user from its birth
Fox is my second choice for browser and it does get used occasionally.
It is very disappointing that mozilla have gone down the Chrome look-alike path

@therube

There are no cookies for my bank, or any financial institutions
The only permanent cookies are for forum logins (like mozillazine)
All cookies are deleted when Fox is closed (except for "keep" exclusions)

What - where is Form-Fill in Fox ?

Where Fox gets my login name from has me bluffed.
I do have portable Fox 54.01 (standard), but there are no preserved cookies in 54.01

The only suspect I have is a unstable Win-7 PRO ... or a dodgy clipboard ... maybe a clean install might be a fix ?
I notice you use "SeaMonkey", its been on my lists of to-do's for years

To change your sig, click "User Control Panel" at the top , then "Profile," then "edit signature."

Did you check to see that all cookies have gone when you restart FF?

Don't do a clean install except as a last resort. Firefox has next to nothing in the registry or other folders, except for your profile folder. You might try searching your FF profile for the word "[yourloginname]"
Try a new profile just for testing purposes, and see if it logs in at your bank. If it doesn't, it's something in your current profile.

52.9esr is still good with CTR and all extensions. I use it
