LegacyCollector old addon archive to shut down December 2019
If you plan to use Firefox 56 or older, or Seamonkey, or any browser once related to Firefox that supports legacy extensions, make sure you have your own saved set of XPI files for the extensions you like. Note also if you have an extension in a profile you can sometimes copy the XPI from that profile to use for re-install or on other computers.

You might want to read the back story about that, apparently it involves 'threats', one can only speculate from whom.
Maybe someone who thinks HE controls legacy extensions?

He talks about several threats to his person on the front page of the site.
LegacyCollector

I got a "Wayback Machine has not archived that URL" message when I tried to download an XPI file on the archive.org site.

If you read that thread I think it's pretty obvious who likely made the threats.

In that thread, New Tobin Paradigm says he disapproves of the threats. He also says that the site coming down will deprive him of the chance to be proven right by people seeing how the site was inferior or low quality. To me, that is believable.

On irc, he says he's 'still fat and slightly insane'. To me, that is believable.

That may not be necessary. With a few exceptions, you can find what you need by installing the extension CA Archive, created and maintained by JustOff. It provides access to an extensive catalog of legacy extensions. One exception is Bookmarks Favicon Changer, which you can access here. Developer states that CA Archive is compatible with Firefox ESR 45-52, Firefox 45-58b, and SeaMonkey 2.40+, to name a few browsers.kerft wrote:If you plan to use Firefox 56 or older, or Seamonkey, or any browser once related to Firefox that supports legacy extensions, make sure you have your own saved set of XPI files for the extensions you like. What sort of man would put a known criminal in charge of a major branch of government? Apart from, say, the average voter.

If you grab the xpi all of the extension code will live in a local sqlite db, so, once you got it, you got it forever.
Ben.
XUL is dead. Long live the Google Chrome Clones.

Not really. The extensions themselves still live in the "cloud".If you grab the xpi all of the extension code will live in a local sqlite db, so, once you got it, you got it forever.

The 'extensions themselves' are identical, be they on my PC, on a hosting site, on a cloud hosting site or a user's harddrive.
Guess how I know this.
