Mozilla's security staff is cracking down on malicious Firefox add-ons.
https://www.zdnet.com/article/mozilla-has-banned-nearly-200-malicious-firefox-add-ons-over-the-last-two-weeks/ Don't worry, soon we'll be down to half a dozen, approved and supplied by MozCo Central Control.
Nice to see that WebExtensions are less vulnerable to shady developers than Security Risk 'legacy' ones were. #KeepFightingMichael and Alex.
This is really nothing new.
Long been nothing but a wack-a-mole response by Mozilla. Mozilla goes out of its way to not bring this type of thing to light. Purposely obscuring & making obtuse bug reports. Any type of this malicious behavior only (well mostly) comes to light when Mozilla is notified - by others. As in Mozilla does nothing on the front-end to thwart it. And as noted below, really there is no need to do anything, because "webextensions are less vulnerable to shady developers" (lol).

While they are, were, might be, this "approved" list, who knows where that stands? I'm guessing, being truthful is too hard to accept, so stating something like: "this is not a recommended extension. make sure you trust it before installing." isn't politically correct. Currently (since last day or two), I no longer see that message? Yet others still do? Me: https://i.postimg.cc/3xP2CqBD/Firefox-A ... w-safe.png Others: https://i.imgur.com/Ph7R4GX.png https://freenode.logbot.info/seamonkey/ ... 5#c3139368 s/rouge/rogue/ Maybe instead of Mozilla layoffs, if instead they actually hired people to... Whew! Just woke up from a bad dream! Fire 750, bring back 250.
