[SOLVED] Making Firefox Portable Default on Open Window

Post by BorgInvasionReturns »

I am testing out Firefox Portable. I set it as default browser. One issue I have is when I open a link from a document or email, it opens a new window completely void of all my addons/bookmarks/current tabs/etc. While the main window is open with all my stuff, opening a new link just opens a new vanilla Portable window.

How can I change its behavior to act like regular Firefox where new links open in current window?

Thank you.

You need to target the FirefoxPortable.exe executable, not firefox.exe executable.

There are a number of PortableApps threads on setting Firefox Portable as the default browser.

IMHO, if you want to set Firefox Portable as default, then you should install the normal release version instead.

I will look into that, thank you.
I understand the concept of it supposed to just be something temporary/portable. Just my company's IT people are doing dumb blocks on my local Firefox (limiting history, blocking passwords, disabling addons) preventing me from being productive, and I found Portable to work better since they can not affect it on reboot.

The VBS script works for me, for now.

Thanks.
