Make sure you have hidden files set as visible.

Nice ... but no cigar. (If I may jibe back: you suggest I read the documentation, I'll return the honour and suggest you read my complaint! *grin*)
Where we would normally see C:\Windows ... on this machine there is C:\WINNT ... and where there would usually be \ApplicationData\ (or some variant of that theme) there is not.

Dunno.

But as I said in my original, what was true of Win95 and 98 is not here.
So I'm looking at having to begin from scratch with plugins and skins and passwords ... I very crudely exported the bookmarks ... this is primitive and stupid and frustrating and I hate M$ even more.

If the browser wasn't so good I wouldn't bother!
:-)

thanks

Gadd, I bet you've got it!

*click click, plop plop, fizz fizz = instant relief*

Ayup ... there it was ... in a location I looked, too (not where folks told me, though!) ... <i><b>hidden</b></i>, not just the file but the folder as well. Good grief!

C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Phoenix\Profile\default ...

... hidden.

thanks for the brick upside the head.

Because they don't exist until you create them. You will find userChrome-example.css and userContent-example.css in your profile's chrome folder, user.js has to be created from scratch.

http://www.mozilla.org/start/1.0/faq/profile.html#location wrote:On Windows 2000 or Windows XP, a typical base profile location is:
C:\Documents and Settings\[Log-in Name]\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\

Note: on Windows 2000 and Windows XP, the “Document and Settings” directory is hidden twice; to access the directory, you may need to set Windows Explorer to show System and Hidden directories and files.

Granted, the Phoenix part instead of Mozilla is not obvious, but the general location was correct...

And, of course, the fact that /finding the profile/ was the subject ...
... but no problem. You managed to point out the obvious. And that, I suppose ... *scratches head* ...
Oh, whatever.

I pointed out that you were searching for files which might not exist and indicated ones which would. How was that off-topic?
