I wish there was an option to open a file after you download
I like this feature in Chrome and Vivaldi, wish that Firefox had it.

If you mean to automatically open the file, that's something of a security issue.

An AV program would catch it when downloading or done downloading.

This will definitely not happen with say .exe on Windows especially because whom do you think people will blame if they have their Firefox run a file and it infects their OS. Mozilla cares about security while Google may not as much.

Safari used to do that by default many years ago. Bad idea.

Why would you want it? What happens if you download a file that has malware or something else bad, Firefox prevents this automatically to protect you and your computer, because as James says "Mozilla cares".
