I'm looking for an extension that would allow me to control Firefox with voice commands (desktop computer). The main feature I want is to be able to scroll the page vertically or initiate page up/down commands without using the mouse or keyboard (i.e., hands-free). Second, I'd like to use voice commands to initiate page searches (Find, Find Next), in order to open links on a page by specifying a word or phrase contained in the link label.

Neither "Speech" nor "Voice" turns up anything useful in the Add-On search engine. However, I'm still running v56 so I'm hoping someone will point me to a legacy extension that can do these things.

See here for how to install the "classic addons archive" to look for legacy extensions:

If you do not find a good voice control extension, you may want to look at these links that mention some voice control software.

Googling for a Linux alternative to Alexa / Cortana might lead you in the right direction, but unfortunately it looks like most of this only works with Chrome.

Alexa/Cortana on Linux?

concerning CA - which database is browsed?
to have in mind - mozilla will delete any legacy extension in the near future from AMO.
so if AMO ist used CA wont help any.

I didn't say to use Cortana on Linux, but to use that as a search term to find Linux software. The poster is using Linux. Searching for Siri linux alternatives gives some hits like these: https://alternativeto.net/software/siri/?platform=linux https://www.pcworld.com/article/2142283 ... ry-pi.html

CAA (abbreviation for classic addons archive) is a 40 megabyte extension that contains the list of most legacy extensions that used to be on AMO. It doesn't link to AMO (addons.mozilla.org), it links to cloud storage organized by the Waterfox developers. I think.

This bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1248897 discusses future plans for Firefox voice features, but if you want to stay with old Firefox that won't help.

Also Firefox Reality is a 1.0 project (in other words, currently downloadable) that uses voice control and voice search, only for VR systems such as Oculus. https://www.cnet.com/news/firefox-reali ... -daydream/ https://mixedreality.mozilla.org/
