I'm wondering whether a security feature could be built in to Firefox that would prevent endless popups. It should work like this:

A popup shows up. If the user clicks "Cancel" or the "Close" button on the top right, it would prevent the site from showing another popup for 15 seconds. After this time, it would allow another popup. The fifteen seconds could be used to safely leave the website. If the user clicks "OK" to the initial popup, it would allow the website to instantly show another.

You don't need to post a live link for people who "know what they're doing". DO NOT post a live link to malware here again.

OK sorry I took it out. You might want to too, malliz.
Anyways, back to topic:
Should this be a feature in an upcoming version of Firefox?

I've never experienced the pop up loop before. Firefox prevents pop up pretty well for me.

They're not actually popups, they're dialogs, which Firefox doesn't block.

I do agree the Firefox popup blocker is awesome though.

FYI...
Pop-up windows, or pop-ups, are windows that appear automatically without your permission. They vary in size but usually don't cover the whole screen. Some pop-ups open on top of the current Firefox window, while others appear underneath Firefox (pop-unders).
Firefox allows you to control both pop-ups and popunders through the Content panel in the OptionsPreferences window. Pop-up blocking is turned on by default, so you don't have to worry about enabling it to prevent pop-ups from appearing in Firefox.

I know what the OP is referring to. They are found on sites that want you go buy their Scantools, Malware tools, etc.

Yes they are dialog boxes encoded in the HTML from the server.

I have seen them work like this:
They are not window so FF Popup blocker wont stop them
If you click Cancel it just reloads the page or refreshes the dialog box
If you click the X to close, same thing
I have seen where even if you say OK and allow it to take you to their page, when you try to close the new page, it will take you back to the original page that got the loop started.

The problem is you cannot navigate away from the page. The dialog box takes focus and must be closed before a click event can be read on any other object. All you can do is Crtl-Alt-Del and kill FF. Hope you dont hit the site or link again.
