URL bar history opening up new tab. How to stop this?

Do you guys know what I'm talking about? I go to the URL history and click on one to open up that url, but it opens in a new tab. Is there a pref I can set to change this so that it opens in the current window?

That is not default behavior.

Perhaps you have installed the tabbed browser extension? Check your settings in that case.

No I haven't installed any extensions. I'm using an emaculate compiled build from the 12/04 nightly release on Redhat 8.

But even if it's not default behavior, does anyone know the pref that controls this?

bizzarre. Now it's opening in the current tab just like it should.
