Why do Moz keep removing the things that distinguish FF and make it great? Great or Dead --> very soon, very dead.
So, some metric shows that no-one uses this feature. Perhaps the problem is Mozilla's lack of ability to make it known to users how useful this feature is.
I've recently showed my girlfriend how to use Tab Groups and she can't understand how she ever did without them - it was just she didn't know about them before. She's going to be seriously pissed to discover that they're now about to be stripped out completely.
Do Moz provide an alternative? No - just wait for an extension. Why don't they take the exisitng code and put out a Moz supported extension for everyone.
It beggars belief sometimes.

Discussed to death here, extension linked to on last page... although it's hard to say whether that extension will actually continue to work when Mozilla removes Panorama:

Tip of the day: If it has "toolbar" in the name, it's crap.
